Senior Quantity Surveyor

Job Description


Our long-standing manufacturing client, based in Bolton, is looking for an experienced and capable SeniorQuantity Surveyor to join their growing team.

The company delivers complex manufacturing and engineering projects across a diverse range of industries, including nuclear, oil & gas, defence, marine, industrial, pharmaceutical, architectural and water.

With a varied project portfolio and technically challenging work, this is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Quantity Surveyor looking to take ownership of commercially significant projects within a well-established manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain comprehensive contract documentation, including applications for payment, quotations, variations and contractual notifications, ensuring all documentation is submitted in accordance with the relevant contract terms and conditions.

  • Monitor and control contract income and expenditure, including interim and final applications for payment, final accounts and recovery of outstanding or late payments.

  • Liaise with clients, Project Managers and Senior Management to ensure effective commercial management and resolution of contractual matters.

  • Produce accurate and timely monthly commercial reports for the Commercial Manager, including:

    • Cost & Value Reports (CVR)

    • Cashflow forecasts

    • Cost-to-complete forecasts

    • Turnover forecasts

    • WIP reports

    • Risk & opportunity registers

    • Earned Value Analysis

  • Ensure all commercial information is complete, accurate and submitted within required timescales.

  • Maintain full contractual and commercial compliance in accordance with company policies, procedures and governance requirements.

  • Take ownership of commercial performance throughout the full project lifecycle, from contract award through to final account.

  • Support and lead commercial negotiations, contractual discussions and dispute resolution where required.

Skills & Experience Required
  • 710 years' experience in a commercial or Quantity Surveying role within main contracting, manufacturing or project delivery.

  • Degree or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or a related discipline.

  • Previous experience within manufacturing, steel works, engineering or industrial environments.

  • Strong working knowledge of JCT, NEC and IChemE contracts.

  • Proven experience managing the full commercial lifecycle of projects.

  • Demonstrable experience leading commercial negotiations and managing contractual disputes.

  • Strong financial and commercial acumen, with hands-on experience in CVR, forecasting, cost control and commercial reporting.

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work effectively with clients, project teams and senior management.

Salary & Benefits
  • Up to £55,000 per annum

  • Monday Friday, 37 hours per week

  • Office-based position in Bolton

  • Working hours:

    • Monday Thursday: 8:00am 5:00pm

    • Friday: 8:00am 12:00pm
