We are looking for an energetic and experienced Principal Waste Water Process Engineer to join our Design & Advanced Technology (D&A) practice at AtkinsRéalis. You will deliver cutting edge, iconic projects for our Water market clients, including Thames Water, Anglian Water, South East Water, Southern Water and other regional authorities.
Your Role
- Coordinate or manage a team of process engineers to deliver technical design on small to complex multi disciplinary projects, adhering to national and project specific design codes and high quality standards in all aspects of waste water treatment.
- Produce and review technical deliverables such as design reports, process calculations and control philosophies.
- Work independently with minimal guidance, exercising judgement to solve difficult problems and provide guidance to junior colleagues.
- Provide technical input into project design deliverables with the project management team to manage time, budgets and key milestones.
- Collaborate with stakeholders at all levels, including clients, operational staff, project teams and external partners.
- Mentor less experienced colleagues to grow the process engineering capabilities of the team.
- Provide technical support for bid proposals.
- Work in a multi disciplinary team across the UK and overseas to deliver integrated design solutions.
- Adhere to quality assurance standards, including checking and reviewing own and others' work.
About You
- Chartered or Incorporated Engineer, preferably IChemE or CIWEM.
- Degree in Chemical Engineering or equivalent (e.g., Environmental, Water and Wastewater Engineering).
- Strong knowledge and design experience in waste water treatment processes and principles: preliminary, primary, secondary, tertiary, quaternary, sludge treatment and integrated services including emissions, odour, carbon and energy management.
- Practical knowledge of current design codes, standards and industry best practices, including CDM Regulations.
- Experience delivering projects with UK safety and environmental regulations, process safety techniques (e.g., HAZOP), capital and operational cost assessment and whole life carbon assessment.
- Proven leadership in coordinating or managing a process engineering design delivery team.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to convey technical concepts clearly to diverse multi disciplinary teams.
- Proactive, highly motivated mindset with a collaborative approach to teamwork.

Additional Information
Role may require security clearance; offers of employment are contingent on obtaining the relevant clearance level. The vetting process is delivered by UKSV and may require proof of UK residency for five years or longer.
