At HSE, we work with one goal in mind – to help keep Britain’s workforce safe and healthy. One of HSE's key purposes is to ensure major hazards are properly managed in industries such as offshore oil and gas, construction and chemicals manufacture. Following the Grenfell tragedy, there’s also a renewed focus on fire safety and we work closely with the newly formed Building Safety Regulator, which is implementing a more stringent regulatory regime for higher-risk buildings. Much of our practical research takes place at the Health and Safety Laboratory in Buxton, where we have access to an unrivalled range of large-scale testing and evaluation facilities.
