Process Engineer

Job Description

DuPont’s Clean Technologies is seeking an enthusiastic, innovative, and results-driven Process Engineer for the Martinez, CA acid catalyst manufacturing facility. You will be part of a team responsible for developing catalyst production processes and for providing technical support to the facility. The successful candidate will be an active participant in cross-functional project teams, global initiatives, process engineering teams, and operational improvement teams.

Our site is small with the opportunity to participate in multiple business aspects and to make a large impact in the success of the business while leveraging the support of a large global company.

Responsibilities include:

• Monitor and report on process performance, product cost, and operational logistics
• Serve as the site technical expert on the catalyst manufacturing process
• Identify and implement process upgrades and optimization projects
• Collaborate with on-site teams to drive yield and profitability improvements
• Facilitate discussion between Avon Plant and Clean Tech R&D teams
• Communicate process risks and opportunities to the organization
• Troubleshoot process and quality issues
• Establish operating guidance and parameters
• Manage planning and execution of new catalyst test runs
• Participate in capital project reviews
• Model appropriate behavior for core values (Respect for People, SHE, Ethics, Environmental

MECS® Sulfuric Acid Catalyst Production is a reliable and economical producer of catalyst that converts SO2 to SO3 since 1915 for sulfur burning, metallurgical, spent acid, and wet sulfuric acid plants. As a world leader in sulfuric acid process technologies and catalyst production for nearly 100 years, our vast technical expertise and sulfuric acid production knowledge, coupled with our commitment to innovation, has enabled us to create a line of high-performance sulfuric acid catalysts for use in any type of converter. This position offers exposure to many of the different functions within this environmentally conscious industry.

Job Qualifications

Required/ Basic:

• BS Degree in Chemical Engineering
• Proficient with MS Office suite (Excel, Word, etc.)
• Ability to lead and uphold core values (Respect for People, SHE, Ethics, Environmental Stewardship)
• Self-starter with systematic decision making, problem solving and troubleshooting skills
• Works well in high pressure situations
• Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization including technicians, engineers, contractors, SHE, and management
• Ability to adjust priorities based on organizational needs
• Comfortable working at heights (including ability to do moderate stair/ ladder climbing)
• Capable of wearing a respirator
• Ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs.
• Willing to provide night and weekend support as required

Preferred:

• 2+ years of process engineering experience in a manufacturing facility
• Demonstrated project management skills
• Experience in developing and troubleshooting mass balances
• Experienced using enterprise resource planning (ERP) software (e.g. SAP, Epicor, etc.)
• Experienced using MS Access and/or Minitab
