We are now looking for a Principal Risk & Process Safety Scientist to join us on a permanent, full-time or part-time basis, working a minimum of 22 hours per week.

The Role
As a Principal Risk & Process Safety Scientist, you will play a leading role in delivering cutting-edge, challenging research, support and consultancy for risk and process safety topic areas.
Specifically, you will oversee research projects aimed at expanding knowledge and enhancing capabilities relevant to HSE’s current and/or emerging needs.
You will build networks within your area of technical expertise to promote and develop collaborative projects, as well as create technical solutions and facilitate workshops for risk identification and management of existing and emerging risks.
Evaluating safety cases and technical evidence to support regulatory aspects, you will work closely with government regulatory bodies to ensure a unified and robust approach to risk concepts and their implementation.
Additionally, you will:
- Provide expertise at cross-government and international research projects
- Publish scientific reports and present findings at key industry events
About You
To be considered as a Principal Risk & Process Safety Scientist, you will need:
- Significant experience in risk management concepts for industrial applications
- Experience facilitating hazard and risk workshops/studies
- Proven ability to lead technical project teams and mentor colleagues
- Strong communication skills with a record of scientific report writing and networking
- A higher degree (Master’s or above) in a relevant Science or Engineering discipline, such as Chemical Engineering
