About you and this role

 

For our Dow Polyol facility in Tertre, Belgium, we are currently looking for a Senior Improvement Engineer. The Polyurethanes that are manufactured at the site are used in a wide range of applications, including foams for furniture and bedding, insulation materials, adhesives, sealants, and coatings. As with all Dow locations, the Tertre site is committed to safety, health, and environmental standards, ensuring that all operations comply with established procedures and regulations.

 

In your role as Senior Improvement Engineer, you will lead and implement process improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing efficiency, productivity, and safety across our operations. This position is ideal for an experienced engineer with a deep understanding of chemical processes and work practices, strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities, and excellent communication skills. You should be able to lead by influence and effectively collaborate with individuals from diverse backgrounds and experiences to achieve common goals and drive continuous improvement projects from conception to completion.

 

Responsibilities

  • Execute capital, expense, safety and compliance projects to improve plant performance and reliability.
  • Drive knowledge exchange with technology experts to increase awareness of potential improvement opportunities.
  • Develop and implement a Plant Specific Technology Plan that delivers positive year-over-year ROC (return on capital) and non-capital continuous improvement while meeting Environmental, Health & Safety (EH&S) improvement goals.
  • Champion process safety activities and act as a resource for relevant process safety concerns.
  • Support the facility root cause investigation process by serving as a team member or facilitator for incidents related to process technology.
  • Lead continuous improvement activities for the facility and support the capital plan with a budget responsibility for up to 20 million USD.

 

Qualifications

  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil Engineering or Material Science with at least 3 years of relevant experience in engineering, manufacturing, or a related field.
  • Deep understanding of chemical processing.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and industry standards.
  • Basic process automation knowledge.
  • Fluent in English and French.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in improvement engineering and project management is preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in plant manufacturing within the chemical industry.
