Process Engineer

Based in Blackburn

Salary: up to £40,000

I am working closely with a manufacturer based in Blackburn who are seeking a Process Engineer (Safety bias) to join the safety team on a full time permanent basis. This role is to support the Darwen sites with Process Safety Management matters. This includes managing/developing systems and providing advice to the Darwen teams to ensure compliance with legislative standards.

As a Process Engineer, you will be responsible for:

·Identifying process hazards, evaluating the risk of hazards, and developing effective solutions to mitigate risk.

·Working with various departments and central teams to facilitate their delivery of projects in line with company and legislative requirements

·Conducting independent and joint inspections to identify compliance with company and legislative requirements and identify areas for improvement

·Assisting in the supporting and coaching of management teams to develop their knowledge, awareness of their responsibilities and adoption of best practice.

·Identifying process hazards, evaluate the risk of hazards, and develop effective solutions to mitigate risk.

·Due to the age of the facility, the job holder will need to review and refresh historical documentation and systems

·Assisting in the planning and preparation of necessary SHE processes and documentation for planned, emergency and non-routine maintenance

·Managing and develop electronic systems to ensure the appropriate retention and dissemination of information.

Key Skills + Qualifications

·Degree in Engineering (Process or Chemical) is essential

·4 years previous chemical manufacturing and process safety experience

·Experience in HAZOP, LOPAs and risk analysis

·Ability to read engineering drawings

·Ability to make risk based decisions

·Ability to use IT systems to identify trends, produce reports, presentations and action plans

·Ability to plan and prioritise work load based on business and legal requirements

·Strong influencing and communication skills

·Ability to engage, influence and communicate with all levels of staff cross functionally to disseminate information

·A pragmatic, hands on collaborative approach to work
