Inspirational applicants are sought for an open-ended, full-time Lecturer (Assistant Professor) post in Environmental Engineering in the Department of Chemical Engineering, University of Bath, UK. This is integral to the success of our new MSc course in Environmental Engineering to start in October 2019.

You will be a highly ambitious PhD graduate, with a good first degree in environmental engineering, chemical engineering or a very closely related engineering discipline. The ability to teach a wide range of environmental engineering subjects at both postgraduate and undergraduate levels is expected. Subjects will cover environmental engineering and science as well as environmental economy, policy and legislation. The ability to teach core chemical engineering topics at undergraduate level, including process or product design, is also required. You will have a growing publication record and international reputation appropriate to your career stage, and you will demonstrate clear fit to the Department’s research profile, with a focus on environmental engineering. Potential for winning and delivering on research grants and successful supervision of research students and staff is expected. You will also contribute to academic management and leadership.

The successful applicant will work in a progressive and successful academic environment, and will benefit from the collaborative and well-established Department and Faculty systems at the University of Bath. This is supported by a strong mentoring environment in the Department, and the University’s professional development programme for new lecturers. The lifestyle advantages of working and living in one of the most beautiful and accessible areas in the UK are an added attraction.

Selection Process

All applications are submitted online. In addition to the application form you must include a full and up-to-date CV together with an outline of plans for the post. Your outline, up to four pages long, will focus on research including funding sources, but should also cover teaching. Please include a Skype address in your application details as we normally contact applicants for initial, informal discussions prior to shortlisting. Incomplete or late applications will not be considered. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to Bath to meet staff and students, tour the Department and University, give an oral presentation to staff and postgraduate students, and attend a formal face-to-face interview on 21 May 2019.  We expect the successful applicant to be in post as soon as possible thereafter.
