At Lilly in Germany, we are currently planning and building a high-tech production facility in Alzey (Rhineland-Palatinate), which will expand our production of injectable medicines from 2027 and employ up to 1,000 specialists. Engineer – Automation

What tasks await you?

As an automation engineer, you implement and optimize process automation solutions to ensure smooth process flow. With your know-how of production processes, commissioning, qualification and validation requirements, and code and control system technologies, you support project implementations through process automation solutions/systems and control.

tasks / responsibilities

  • You are the first point of contact for users of the automation systems.
  • During downtimes, you lead or support troubleshooting in collaboration with process engineers, engineering technicians, maintenance and operations.
  • You evaluate control and electrical data to support troubleshooting and provide solutions.
  • You have a comprehensive understanding of production process procedures and critical process parameters, as well as customer needs and issues related to new and existing process control systems.
  • You proactively evaluate automation codes to identify and correct code opportunities.
  • With your expertise, you monitor compliance with the AQMS (Asset Qualification Monitoring Strategy), the automation change strategy and compliance with all requirements, guidelines and regulations.
  • You support site commissioning and qualification activities (e.g. commissioning, C&Q activities, etc.) from an automation perspective.
  • In addition, you develop and maintain the validation documentation.
  • You coordinate closely and actively with internal customers to define user requirements, system architectures and codes.
  • You have a good understanding of infrastructure/telecommunications, managing system administration such as user management, patches/fixes and firmware updates, as well as internal and external policies, procedures and regulations for computer system quality of automation systems.

How do you convince us?

  • You have a Bachelor's degree in engineering (or equivalent professional experience).
  • You are communicative and enjoy working in a team-oriented environment
  • You have an understanding of infrastructure/telecommunications.
  • You have good German and English skills
  • Place of work is Alzey
  • Previous experience as a process automation engineer or process engineer and experience with computer system validation is desirable.
  • Experience in the pharmaceutical industry is desirable.
