Technical Asset Operations (TAO)team aims to develop central, competitive capabilities delivering end-to-end value through the AMS work processes as an integral part of our Downstream Manufacturing (DS-M), Integrated Gas & New Energies (IGNE) and Upstream (UP) asset teams. We support the business worldwide and often do so together with the deep capability of our Project & Technology (P&T), Information Technology (IT) and Finance & Data Operations (FO-Data) partners. You are going to play a vital role in the delivery of continued efficiency and effectiveness improvement by bringing cross-business learning on key processes.

Specific activities can include (but not limited to):

  • Perform engineering activities for the assigned Production Asset, covering all aspects of base layer control strategies HMI design and compressor control, and alarm management.

  • Carry out Proactive Technical Monitoring activities to identify unit performance improvement opportunities and reliability risks, and work with area team to determine and implement cost effective solutions.

    • alerts pass to site CSE and Inspector for further action.

    • review of unit control valve performance to aid in development of T/A control valve scope.

  • Participates in ESP Alarm Review Meetings with technical and operation resources to deliver lower alarm rates.

    • Alarm Configuration, Alarm Review Team, Alarm Metrics, Alarm rationalization, Revalidations and using ACM/UTL for PTM monitoring.

  • Author plant changes (MOC) within the Process Control discipline and provide Process Control design support of plant changes by other disciplines and departments.

  • Support or lead failure analysis and causal investigation of Base Layer control failures or incidents. Own, lead and resolve MTO threats with root cause solutions.

  • Network with other sites TAO personnel to maintain a high quality of work and proactively seek best practices and new technology opportunities (i.e., Wireless technology, Procedural Automation, MDPro).

  • Provide Control Systems Day-to-Day support for their designated Operating Area.

    • Troubleshoot problems with control and information systems (hardware and software).

    • Responsible for MDPro configuration changes for both R&M and Projects.

    • Monitor base layer controller performance.  Identify problem loops and take steps to address.

    • Maintain the safety instrumented systems in their designated area.

  • Collaborate with instrument and maintenance specialists in developing, submitting, and providing data to support scope items in the turnaround worklist for assigned production areas.

  • Provide Asset Availability and Reliability: Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS), Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM), Ensure Safe Production (ESP), Turnarounds (TA), Mitigate Threats to Availability (MTA).

Skills and Requirements

  • Chemical Engineering/Instrumentation Degree preferred but will consider other applicable engineering degrees and experience.

  • 4+ years of experience in the Oil & Gas industry (operating refinery or petrochemicals plants preferred) in any of the following fields

  • Extensive experience in Base Layer and Process Control

  • Process engineering/Process Control: Alarm management, different types of controller’s operation philosophies and their performance monitoring, logic modifications in DCS, graphic design and System support in Process control space

  • Excellent analytical, oral, and written communication skills

  • he Process Control Systems Engineer has a functional working knowledge of Safety Instrumented Systems, control systems applications/hardware, process operation, operational goals, ESP alarm variables, process constraints, key quality specifications for feeds and products, impact on the environment, and major economic variables and how they impact site goals
