INTRODUCTION

DuPont’s Semiconductor Technologies (ST) division develops, manufactures and supplies a broad portfolio of innovative chemistry and materials solutions that drive advances in semiconductor technology. Our materials improve the performance of semiconductor devices in order to meet our customers’ – and end user's – requirements for next-generation memory and logic chips. DuPont’s semiconductor materials have enabled the mobile revolution and its wide range of portable devices, including tablets, smartphones and other handheld and wearable devices consumers use today.  ST offers the industry’s widest portfolio of materials for semiconductor manufactuirn.   As our customers‘ requirements grow more stringent, we are placing a greater emphasis on the strength of our incoming materials.  The primary goal of this position is to ensure consistently high quality of our materials, in order to ensure smooth, seamless supply to our customers.

The Raw Material Quality and Supplier Management Engineer works as part of a global team to develop strong relationships with our vendors to ensure that materials requirements are clearly understood.  By using a variety of statistical methods, the Raw Material Quality and Supplier Management Engineer evaluates materials and processes with an eye to reducing risk at our customer.  If material quality upsets do occur, the Raw Material Technology and Supplier Management Engineer is expected to work as a leading member of the troubleshooting and root cause identification team.  The Raw Material Quality and Supplier Management team is part of the Manufacturing Technology (MT) Engineering function within DuPont’s Electronics and Imaging (E&I) business, and as such is expected to interact freely with R&D, Analytical Sciences, Process Development Engineers, Quality Engineers, and Manufacturing Engineers to ensure success.

THE ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES

Your key responsibilities:

  • Establish and maintain quality requirements for raw materials for use in ST manufacturing
    • Ensure that raw material specifications and control limits are established and updated appropriately –supplier specification, supplier ship-to-control limits, and raw material shelf life setting, etc
    • Establish and maintain critical process control parameters for raw material production in concert with internal and external stakeholders
  • Ensure new and existing raw material supply plans align with global strategy
    • Evaluate new suppliers for potential benefits as primary or secondary suppliers, including collaborative work with R&D and Manufacturing supporting new product and opportunity development.
    • Oversee and execute qualification planning, trial execution, final reports, and security of supply.
  • Manage and monitor supplier performance by interacting closely to ensure clear communication of DuPont’s expectations, including regular audits, technical meetings, on-going improvement activities, performance feedback to supplier, training of semiconductor industry expectations and on-site visits.
    • Constantly monitor quality parameters of every incoming batch of raw material and run raw material MRB (material review board) to support use decision for our production together with QA team
    • Perform supplier audit as a lead auditor for ISO9001.
  • Fully understand supplier’s manufacturing process, control methods, measurement and quality system for developing raw material FMEA.
  • Drive the improvement of quality and performance of suppliers' quality systems including management of change and notification protocols, root cause investigation, documentation and reporting, SPC/SQC programs, calibration, and non-conforming material review systems.
  • Support trouble shooting of supplied material issues and facilitate Root Cause Investigations (RCI) related to supplied materials impact on final product performance and develop mitigation strategies to prevent excursions.
  • Fully characterize assigned raw and consumable materials, coordinate analytical tasks and work with analytical experts to understand raw material characteristics. Work with stakeholders to link key parameters of material analysis to process/product performance.
  • Lead raw material process change projects (PCN) by performing risk assessment and aligning with internal stakeholders and suppliers about supplier’s trial batch production plan and internal/customer evaluation plan of the PCN sample.
  • Develop material and supply mitigation strategies, including second source opportunities and alternate agreements with current suppliers
