Objectives of the position
- To lead process safety risk management activities at site and develop PSRM practices across the site are consitenly applied and sustainable.
- To drive process safety risk reduction for new plants or establish new projects for existing plants.
- Ensuring compliances applicable to EHS statutory requirements.
- Liaising with local regulatory agencies viz: MPCB, DISH, MIDC, PESO etc.
- Implementation of Process safety Management system requirements.
Representative Main tasks
Core responsibilities:
- Propose and lead systematic improvements in operation safety system and emergency management through Design safety reviews and HAZOP / Hazard study reviews.
- To develop and maintain systems for monitoring and reporting process safety performance indicators (PSPI) and use these to drive performance improvements.
- To ensure that process safety aspects are identified and assessed through the management of change process including direct involvement/leading required hazard studies.
- To carry out process safety audits and safety conversations at the site and establish a system of routine process safety audits.
- Develop process safety competency among team and make team aware of relevant Engineering Standards to effectively manage process safety.
- Responsible to maintain and develop accurate P&ID based on the process requirements and engineering inputs
- To ensure safety regulations and procedures are followed as per the regulatory requirements.
- Identify the processes to arrest the areas of non-compliance and develop mechanism to reduce/eliminate the scope for the non-compliance. Ensure timely submission of all statutory compliances.
- Liaising with various government agencies such as Maharashtra Pollution Control Board (MPCB), Director of industrial safety and health (DISH), and MIDC for legal permits
Documentation and Records:
- Maintain plant inspection records and act on the findings in collaboration with the plant engineer and plant supervisor.
- Execute and monitor field tracker for action taken and implementation.
- Check and maintain all Legal compliance documents and records.
- Actively involve and monitor the periodic changes and improvements in plant and ensure that the MOCs are being followed.
- Review all documents and records periodically and bring to notice of any gaps to the plant management.
- Coordinate and review all the Quality documentation and records.
Education & Qualification
- Bachelor of Chemical Engineering with an experience as a process engineer, operations engineer, or process safety engineer.
- Diploma in Industrial Safety
- More than 5 years experience in similar chemical industries
- At least 3-5 years in handling plant safety
- Knowledge on Legal compliance w.r.t Safety as per the factories act
- Exceptional written and verbal communication
- Computer savy
