Wood is recruiting for a Senior Process Engineer to support the Technology and Consulting business, with expertise in Chemical technologies. The position will be based in Corsico (Milan) office, with the possibility to work from home up to two days per week. Limited travelling will be required, predominantly for Client’s alignment meetings

The Role

The role will report to the Senior Manager of Process & Chemicals Technical Consulting business line in the Milan office, which executes activities ranging from pre-feasibility studies to basic design and pre-FEED, in various market sectors, including both the traditional sectors and, predominantly, the Energy Transition markets, like Renewable Energy, Carbon Capture, Biofuels, Blue and Bio-hydrogen, E-fuels, etc.  

A key focus for the role will be the technical delivery in the Chemicals sector, more specifically on Ammonia and Methanol production technologies.

As a Senior Process Engineer focusing on technical project delivery, you will be a key member to develop the technoeconomic solution that guides your client to successfully achieve the next stage in their decision gate process, providing technology expertise in the Chemicals market sector.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Under the Supervision of a Process Coordinator, the key objectives for this role are:  

  • carry out / check / review process calculations, simulations, heat & material balances, process flow diagrams and specifications, in agreement with the Company process standards and the applicable norm 
  • interact with the other engineering disciplines as necessary to prepare the process deliverables 
  • prepare summary reports and presentations 
  • liaise with Licensors/Technology suppliers where required by the specific project 
  • interact and report results of the project activities to the customers 
  • demonstrate customer focus and be aware of, and respond to, customer needs, whilst still achieving project and corporate objectives 
  • run preliminary financial models to assess and compare various technology options 
  • Identify issues and propose solutions using innovative and novel solutions, plus ability to grasp unfamiliar concepts.
  • keep up-to-date with the latest technical developments in the field of energy transition 
  • contribute as requested to the development / preparation of standardized tools and procedures     
  • Support the development of compelling and competitive proposals that readily demonstrate to Clients the best way to deliver their project.

Expected:

  • Master Degree in Chemical Engineering 
  • 5 / 7 years of experience in in process engineering, with a focus on Methanol and Ammonia production technologies
  • Fluent in Italian and English
  • Excellent technical background  
  • Good knowledge of process simulators (e.g. Hysys, Pro II) 
  • Technology and Consulting oriented 
  • Client focus and Attitude to team work 
  • Time management 
  • Problem solving 
  • Taking responsibility 

Desirable:

  • Experience in FEED, EPC, Commissioning and / or Operations such that Clients recognise the experience from later phases being considered in their early project phase
