JOB TITLE

Manufacturing Engineer

INTRODUCTION TO THE ROLE

This is a full-time, on-site role, at our South Windsor, NSW manufacturing plant. 

Reporting to the Manufacturing Technology Manager, you will work closely with the production, capital engineering and R&D teams to provide design, technical and engineering support to the manufacturing areas to meet prescribed quality standards, production schedule and efficiency targets.  The role also involves facilitating the introduction of new products into manufacturing.

YOUR RESPONSIBIITIES

  • Provide engineering support to the membrane extrusion, moduling, and assembly departments 
  • Perform spot quality control checks to ensure product and process meet established standards
  • Design and establish controls to achieve production efficiency and optimize product yield and quality
  • Recommend equipment or layout improvements, improvements in production methods and material handling procedures
  • Participate in projects associated with site expansion, plant extension or alteration
  • Liaise with production and maintenance staff on planning, production, quality, safety and other operational matters
  • Prepare reports as required, identifying various aspect of production and operational efficiency
  • Design, engineer and develop new components, product, plant and equipment as needed
  • Develop and test product and process improvements, evaluate results and recommend changes in specifications or plans as appropriate
  • Supervise technicians and contractors; assign work and review for accuracy and adherence to required standards
  • Order and specify equipment and materials. Monitor quality and quantity of incoming equipment and materials and arrange modification where necessary
  • Utilise LEAN systems and methods to implement changes targeted at yield improvement, inventory reduction and productivity increases
  • Comply with all EHS legislation and regulatory requirements in addition to the company’s EHS Policy and other specific policies, procedures and work instructions to ensure their own health and safety and that of others in the workplace. Maintain compliance with EHS standards and good housekeeping practices
  • Comply with the company’s Code of Conduct including Information and Data security policies
  • Any other work-related duties as required by the department manager

YOUR QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor of Engineering – Manufacturing, Mechanical, Mechatronics or Chemical

YOUR EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum two (2) years experience within a workshop, manufacturing or engineering environment.
  • Prior experience with extrusion, or plastics processing would be beneficial
  • Strong communication skills in both verbal and report writing 
  • Ability to plan and organize workload and projects 
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes including EHS requirements
  • Knowledge of Australian Standards
