DuPont’s Tensylon® Business is seeking a Mechanical Process & Product Development Engineer with expertise in polymer processing and fiber technologies. This role’s primary responsibly will be to support end to end new Tensylon® product development, starting with operating trial batches on the R&D Pilot line located in Monroe, NC.
In addition to the R&D scope, the role will also provide troubleshooting and root cause analysis to the Tenslyon® production facility for complex production issues impacting capacity, yield, or quality. The role will work closely with customers, product management, and global applications development teams to adjust the product process and finalize commercial specifications. As the final step in process development, the role will work closely with site operations in Monroe, NC and external contractors to commercialize the product. This role provides opportunities to interface and collaborate with several different functions within DuPont, including Operations, Contract Management, R&D, Manufacturing Technology, EH&S, Quality, and Product Management.
Your Key Responsibilities:
Design, plan, communicate, and participate in a daily test plan for experiments run on the Semi-Works
Ensure that experimental results are routinely and properly recorded.
Work effectively with technicians and mechanics
Prepare technical reports, data summaries, protocols and other technical and regulatory documents as needed.
Develop an understanding of the relationships between process parameters and product properties
Applies knowledge of the Line of Business (LOB) technology to define and implement solutions for PSM, Grow and Improve projects.
Leads or Participates in front end loading of capital projects.
Lead or Participates in Process Hazards Analysis (PHAs) for existing or new processes.
First contact for advanced troubleshooting for Operations.
Provide required engineering support for Root Cause Investigations (RCI’s).
Leads or supports raw material qualification or trials for new products.
Validates technical solutions and documents results to drive toward a standardized Process Technology.
Provides technical input for Management of Change.
Lead or Participate in Project Reviews.
Collaborates across MT, Operations, EH&S, R&D, Contract Management etc.
Your Qualification Profile:
Bachelor’s Degree Engineering discipline required ( Mechanical Preferred)
3+ years of manufacturing or related experience required (Preferred in a chemical process environment)
Prior experience in applications development or R&D preferred
Effective communication/interpersonal skills
