This operations technical position will support facilities engineering and process safety engineering in production assets across the globe
Work location is Bengaluru, Karnataka, India
Operations Technical Support (Facilities Engineering)
Provide remote technical support to operating facilities
Troubleshoot equipment/processes including heat exchangers, separators, pump/compression units, fractionation units, acid gas treatment units, water treatment units, refrigeration and gas liquefaction units, process safety systems, and process control systems
Perform root cause analysis investigations for equipment failures or process upsets
Manage and steward engineering design of site led small projects
Accountable to deliver engineering packages to site for procurement and construction by working closely with Contractor, Business Unit and other engineering disciplines
Analyze plant operating data to identify actionable insights for optimization and debottlenecking opportunities
Support Management of Change for facilities modifications including development of scope and completion of engineering deliverables for both routine maintenance and turnaround scopes
Lead and steward Management of Change including coordinating with other disciplines and operations, conducting risk reviews when appropriate, and updating documentation
Identify and progress capacity enhancement, reliability improvement and cost reduction initiatives to improve unit profitability
Develop and modify process simulation models using standard process modeling software (i.e., Aspen HYSYS, HTRI, etc.)
Provide coaching and mentoring to early career engineers
Operations Technical Support (Process Safety Engineering)
Identify and characterize hazards inherent in facility design and operations independently or through a team of multi-disciplinary engineers
Lead and participate in Risk Assessments and HAZOP studies for production facilities and projects (including development of event trees and bowties)
Conduct consequence analysis for dispersion modeling (flammable hydrocarbons, toxic releases), radiation modeling, blast modeling, BLEVE modeling using industry software (PHAST, FLACS, Flaresim, etc.)
Design of overpressure protection systems, including pressure relief and depressurization/ blowdown systems using Aspen HYSYS, and flare systems using Flarenet and Flaresim
Lead and participate in SIL determination and verification assessments
Provide process safety/ loss prevention support for greenfield/ brownfield projects including design of (1) facility layouts, (2) survival systems, escape, evacuation, and rescue philosophies, (3) fire and gas detection and alarm systems, (4) active and passive fire protection systems, etc
Interpret and apply ExxonMobil and Industry Design Standards to existing production facilities and greenfield/ brownfield projects (e.g., API 14C, API RP 520/521, IEC 61511, etc
Skills and Qualification
Bachelor's degree in Chemical or Petroleum Engineering from a recognized university with CGPA 6.0 and above
Minimum of 7 years of work experience within the oil and gas industry (Upstream, Refining, or Petrochemical) in Operations Support or Technical Services roles
Minimum 5 years of experience in responsible roles of Process Surveillance, Process engineering or Process Safety engineering in the Oil and Gas Industry
Experience and competency in various oil and Gas Industry Process Design and Process Safety standards.
Strong interpersonal skills and written/verbal communication skills in English
Proficient in Microsoft office suite of software program
Willing to work in shifts (1.30 PM – 10.30 PM IST) or (9:00 AM -6:00 PM IST)
Tool proficiency : Aspen Hysys/HTRI/DNV PHAST/FLACS/Flarenet/Flaresim/Flarenet/PHA pro
Preferred Qualifications/ Experience
Strong organizational, planning/coordination, interface, and technical judgment skills
Demonstrated experience and proficiency in mentoring early career process engineers
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams
Willing to work full-time from Bengaluru based office location
Willing to work in flexible working hours to provide around-the-clock support for global affiliates
Willing and able to travel nationally and internationally as per requirement
