The Principal Reliability Engineer serves as part of the Reliability technical team at a large AIM manufacturing and FFP site as a subject matter expert who facilitates the Asset Care and User Driven Maintenance programs with the site maintenance, engineering, and production units.

 

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

The primary responsibilities of this role, Principal Reliability Engineer, are to: 

  • Implement and maintain the agreed asset reliability strategies and programs consistently and effectively throughout the site manufacturing and support operations;
  • Develop, implement and support predictive maintenance programs such as vibration analysis, ultrasonics, infrared thermography, etc.;
  • Act as site technical expert and point of contact for maintenance, reliability and performance issues, initiatives and disciplines;
  • Implement Technical Good Practices, maintenance procedures, workflows, processes, tools and KPIs to drive continuous improvements in asset performance in accordance with agreed performance management goals;
  • Facilitate, monitor, and report the development and implementation of the asset management strategy Asset Criticality Analysis (ACA), Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA) and preventive/predictive maintenance (PM/PdM);
  • Develop, implement and execute the site Defect Elimination (DE) program;
  • Lead Root Cause Analysis (RCA)/Defect Elimination (DE) investigation teams utilizing methodical processes and analytical problem-solving techniques to resolve ‘bad actor’ asset performance issues;
  • Provide compliance oversight for technical plant safety and operational excellence standards. Identify opportunities and implement solutions to improve safety through improvements in reliability and technical compliance;
  • Propose, justify, manage and execute reliability-based improvement projects;
  • Promote reliability best practices across the site. Develop and deliver education and training programs to the site manufacturing and technical stakeholders to develop and improve specific site reliability knowledge and understanding.
  • Perform other duties as assigned that support the overall goal of the position.

 

 WHO YOU ARE 

Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following: 

Required:

    • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering discipline;
    • Experienced in reliability centered engineering design, maintenance, and operation of rotating equipment, stationary equipment and piping;
    • Competent and knowledgeable of the holistic approach to effective asset performance management;
    • Proven knowledge of planned preventive and predictive (PM/PdM) maintenance principles and practices and predictive, condition based, maintenance technologies;
    • Working knowledge of root cause analysis (RCA) and six sigma techniques;
    • Proficient with computerized maintenance management software tools (Maintenance Connection, SAP, Prometheus, Meridium);
    • Self-confident and personable with excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
    • Capable of effectively influencing and convincing within a multidisciplinary environment.

 

Preferred:

    • BS 8+ years, MS 6+ years, or PhD 4+ years experience in the areas of maintenance, engineering, or operation;
