Job Description

The NPI (New Product Introduction) and Technical function provides best in class processes that ensure all product inputs are understood and maintained through the product life-cycle within the wider manufacturing and production operations at the GSK Ware PSC (Pharma Supply Chain) Site.  This entails all elements of the manufacture, testing and supply process from launch through to planned changes and to product and process transfers in and out of site.

 

Your Role:

Due to the sustained long-term expansion of the Ware site we are looking for a dynamic and driven Process Engineer to join our Process Engineering and Analytics team at the PSC manufacturing site at Ware.  Reporting directly into the Platform and Process Engineering Team Manager, you will take responsibility for providing process technical and engineering expertise within the NPI and Technical function, delivering Process understanding and Continuous Improvement projects to support the site strategy.

 

You will provide technical leadership in the application of process engineering best practice, principles and process safety and will be recognized as the SME for all aspects of technical knowledge on the manufacturing unit operation(s) that you are responsible for, ensuring Critical Process Parameters are identified, understood, monitored and controlled. As such, you will be expected to master a body of knowledge for that unit operation and use this to act as the functional expert in the department.

 

The role is based within the OSD Technical department and forms part of OnePharma Process Engineering and Analytics organization. It is also strongly aligned with several Engineering and Production groups across the site and external organization’s (including Pharmaceutical Development).

 

As part of the OnePharma organization, you will be expected to make innovative contributions by providing experimental data, technical insight and modelling of data to solve complex process development problems using excellent practical and theoretical understanding.

 

About You:

This role would suit driven and motivated individuals who have strong experience of working in a complex and fast paced GMP environment.  You will be educated to degree-level within a suitable discipline (eg; scientific or engineering), with strong people skills.  A proven ability to drive performance is a must.  It is imperative in this role that you demonstrate an ability to drive common-objective thinking, with a complete focus on providing solutions and executing them to completion.  You will need to be persuasive, have a strong continuous improvement mindset, and have proven experience of dealing with diverse internal and external stakeholder groups.  Ideally you will have worked in a highly regulated industry (experience of pharmaceutical manufacturing would be highly advantageous).

 

 

About Ware Manufacturing Site:

Medicines at Ware are presented as either Respiratory devices or in Oral Solid Dose form. The site holds a unique position in our network as the only site responsible for launching the company’s pipeline of new medicines in these dose forms, many of which are life saving medicines. A series of investments in new state-of-the-art equipment are being made that will support the delivery of a record number of new products. This must be achieved whilst consistently delivering outstanding quality, service and value to our patients.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Relevant technical / engineering qualifications (eg; Engineering degree) and / or equivalent experience
  • Required to demonstrate competence in current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP), understands its impact on their own role and the implications of not following cGMP.

     

Preferred Requirements:

 

  • Demonstrated proficiency in data analytics to effectively process the data generated from Oral Solid Dose products and processes
  • The role sits at the interface between process understanding and modelling, therefore skills in commonly used programming languages (MATLAB, Python) used to support engineering applications are an advantage
  • Knowledge of Quality by Design framework to design pharmaceutical processes
