AstraZeneca has completed its first bulk solid dosage continuous manufacturing platform! We’re therefor moving forward to change the future and footprint of our Oral Solid Dosage (OSD) Global Manufacturing Network, using this ground-breaking technology. As our new Process Technical Leader you will help to transform an industry, making sure further implementation is done seamlessly with the help of a great process. This technology will drive new levels of operation efficiencies and sustainability.

What you'll do

The Process Technical Leader(Associate Principle Process Engineer) is the technical assurance lead for delivering new manufacturing assets to the AZ business. With your expertise you'll be responsible for the technical direction and leadership that ensures the appropriate specification, design, supplier selection and system performance that meets the business requirements. This requires understanding of AZ’s business goals and the ability to convert them into robust technical solutions.

This position will initially be assigned to support the delivery of our next generation continuous direct compression (CDC) and coating operations in Södertälje, Sweden. Typical accountabilities will be:

  • Lead process operations stakeholder engagement to align project performance expectations.
  • Technology selection, capacity calculations (process modeling), and preliminary equipment sizing.
  • Ensure User Requirement Specification (URSs) are produced and completed technically accurate and appropriate for calibration & qualification execution.
  • Lead process risk assessments in order to establish and deliver safe process operations and meet drug product quality requirements.
  • Support procurement supplier management efforts to establish qualified suppliers and bid evaluations.
  • Work with technology leading equipment suppliers, Design Engineering and Construction firms to successfully deliver an integrated manufacturing operation.
  • Review and approve process technical documents from design and equipment supplier firms.
  • Provide construction phase technical audits and lead GMP equipment factory acceptance testing (FAT) including authorization to release equipment from supplier to AZ site.
  • Provide technical support to GMP equipment commissioning and validation.
  • Provide AZ sites and external manufacturing partners with technical expertise to tackle and or improve process operations.

Essentials

  • Understanding and/ or experience with continuous manufacturing platforms.
  • Technical understanding of basic OSD unit operations.
  • A natural communicator with excellent partner engagement & leadership skills.
  • Experience in the specification, procurement, installation, start up and commissioning of GMP equipment.

Collaboration is a key way of working at AZ. This role is based in Södertälje, Sweden but as an active part of our distributed team your expertise may be needed for technical assessments at other facilities, so you must be able to travel accordingly.

  • Lean Manufacturing certification.
  • Chartered or Professional Licensed Engineer.
