The Manufacturing Controls Engineer has the responsibility for supporting and improving the Basic Regulatory and Advanced Process Control (APC) applications, as well as identifying and implementing new control applications to improve process throughput, profitability, stability, reliability, and safety. The Controls Engineer generates a broad range of challenges that require routine interaction with other work groups to ensure maximum value is derived from the control systems. #LI-RH1
• Promote a safe working environment by following all safety procedures.
• Provide process engineering and control system engineering support to plant operations. through the application of technical principles, theories, and concepts.
• Provides technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems.
• Provide solutions for improved material handling and product packaging to improve ergonomics and reduce labor requirements.
• Check drawings and bills of materials as relates to assigned projects.
• Start-up and debug machine(s) prior to shipment, monitor installation and commissioning.
• Review with design team to ensure quality and internal design practices are being met.
• Participate in Engineering, and PSM activities (HAZOPS, risk assessments, PHAs, MOCs, etc.)
• Provide technical consultation, formal and informal training for process control applications.
• Act in a support or team role for a variety of process control projects.
• Develop all aspects of control systems, equipment, and machinery.
• Analyze, design, and implement Robotic Process Automation (RPA) solutions.
• Assist with the development of technical reports or related documents.
• Own, maintain and approve all schematics for new and existing equipment.
• Provide input to the project lessons learned process.
• Assist in the development of machine specifications.
• Appropriately escalate downtime situations to site management.
• Ensure compliance with applicable internal processes and regulations.
• Perform controls systems assessments to maintain and improve equipment reliability.
• Recommend hardware and software changes as well as upgrades to existing systems.
• Take initiative to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
• Bachelor's or Graduate's degree in Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Science.
• Minimum of five years of engineering experience in manufacturing industry
• Working knowledge of controls (PLC, HMI, and Motion Controlled Programs)
• Ability to travel up to 20%
• Excellent influencing and communication skills
• Ability to work across multi-disciplinary teams and interact with all levels of the organization
• Knowledge and experience with trend analyses on equipment failures of safety critical equipment
• Good computing skills
