Where the Chemistry Happens . . .   Operations Engineer – Beaumont TX  # 2302291

 

We are seeking a professional like you for an Operations Engineer role to support the daily production of the Dicamba Unit and associated operations, providing technical support in executing the plant operational processes. 

 

This role will own Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s), Process Safety Information, process material physical property data, lead troubleshooting efforts, and interact with Operations, Maintenance, and other operational support personnel. You will generate and complete management of change (MOC’s) for your area of responsibility. Additionally, you will support the development of new Capital Projects and support the implementation of Projects in this existing unit as a Manufacturing Representative. 

 

You will be instrumental in leading troubleshooting efforts when problems arise and will be a solution provider. You will also hold responsibility for resolving Quality non-conformances generated in your area. This position requires strong leadership in safety and Behavioral Based Safety processes which support the BASF Journey to EHS Excellence. On-call responsibility is required for response to any after hour event that impacts production or EHS.

 

As an Operations Engineer you will… 

 

  • Provide guidance and input to the achievement and development of plant goals, objectives, and operational budgets. You will additionally contribute to the achievement of production goals while meeting established standards of Safety, Environmental Protection, Efficiency, Quality, and Cost.
  • Deliver process improvements in quality, productivity, cost and environmental compliance while also demonstrating strong leadership in safe plant operation and adherence to BASF Occupational and Process Safety rules and policies.
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting expertise to the Daily Operational Team for plant problems that occur and will closely monitor the process conditions and provide technical support and feedback to the Operations team.
  • Support the production manager in driving standardization across shifts and optimization of operating costs; partner with other site/area functions for standardization and best practice sharing across the site.
  • Utilize your leadership in root cause failure analysis for EHS, quality, and production incidents.
  • Drive the optimization of scheduled and unscheduled downtime and overall cycle time improvements (Asset Effectiveness and AE tools) and will allow you to assist the department in the coordination, planning, and execution of shutdown or turnaround work including maintenance and capital activities.
     

Your formula for success… 

 

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering required, chemical engineering desired
  • Experience in a chemical/refining or similar manufacturing environment desired
  • Experience with continuous improvement and change management initiatives
  • Demonstrated familiarity with process equipment operation including reactors, distillation columns, boilers, solids handling equipment, pumps, control valves, etc.
  • Familiarity with Lean / Six Sigma tools desired
