The Tedlar® film manufacturing business is seeking a Casting Process Engineer at the site in Circleville, Ohio.  The Tedlar® plant was built in 2010 and has a state of the art automation systems.  The process has diverse unit operations (batch, distillation, film manufacturing/oven, web handling and web profile control) with opportunities for process control improvements. This facility is one of two manufacturing locations for the production of Tedlar® Polyvinyl Fluoride film produced by the Tedlar® business unit within DuPont.  The Circleville site also manufactures Kapton® film, Teflon® film and Vespel® resin.

The Circleville site is located approximately 30 miles south of Columbus, OH, a growing city that is currently the 14th largest in the nation.  This proximity to Columbus allows either urban or rural living; great for families and single living.  The area offers many museums and arts-scene experiences, professional and collegiate sports, and has several highly ranked golf courses and state parks for the outdoor enthusiast.  See www.experiencecolumbus.com for additional information.


Your key responsibilities:

This position will be the lead mechanical engineer supporting the Tedlar® film casting line.  The individual will be responsible for developing and executing engineering solutions to continuously improve process capability in the areas of safety, productivity, reliability, and quality.

Required Qualifications:

  • Technical degree (BS, MS) in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering with previous manufacturing experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of experience preferred
  • Hands-on experience with engineering support of a 24/7 film casting or extrusion operation
  • Demonstrated expertise in the application of casting/extrusion equipment including but not limited to melt pumps, screen packs, screw design, die operation and design, gauge control, online thickness measurement, quenching systems, MD and TD stretching
  • Demonstrated expertise in roll formation, winding, and film conveyance technologies
  • Proven ability to drive timely and highly effective results while positively influencing others
  • Strong interpersonal skills to both network and to be an effective team member
  • Solid demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and a high-volume workload with shifting and competing priorities   
  • Strong teamwork and organization skills
  • Understanding of Six Sigma methodology
  • Experience with Process Safety Management
  • Six Sigma Green or Black Belt certified
  • Lean manufacturing experience
