About You and this Role:

 

In this role, you will serve as a Senior Process Automation Engineer aligned to Dow’s Alkoxylation (Polyols, PSL&F), PU Systems and Adhesives Tech Center in the Gulf Coast area, taking responsibility in the Santorini project as process automation Tech Center representative, making sure the project aligns with MET-1 and MET-2 functional and technology standards, participate in project reviews and project start-up. Later on, once the Santorini plant is up and running, the incumbent will work close with plant team making sure plant level improvements align with the business technology standards. Once Santorini priorities are covered, the role can expand globally to support plants and projects potentially in 12 Alkoxylation locations.

 

Good organizational and strong interpersonal skills, combined with project execution experience and coupled with a strong technical process automation background are necessary. The job offers a mix of project leadership, people and technical coaching, scope definition and hands on implementation.

 

Santorini project is a new world scale Alkoxylation facility with 2 reactor trains with a capacity of 150 KTA, being built in Seadrift. The plant is batch process with high integration from shop floor to ERP. Control system is ABB 800xA.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Represents Tech Center in the process automation area, make sure standards and MET is applied
  • Lead implementation on-site of PA Business / Tech Center projects and initiatives
  • Support plant process control continuous improvements
  • Serves as the subject matter expert for PA work process, tools and control system
  • Drives strategic solutions in partnership with stakeholders.
  • Work together with plant / tech center to develop PA mid-long term vision/strategy
  • Support hands-on process automation technicians on complex issue resolution
  • Participate in project scoping, FEL, reviews and start-up support
  • Incumbent will be also involved in global PA Tech Center activities

 

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in engineering
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience (i.e. process automation, process control, code development, etc.)
  • Willing and able to travel up to 15% annually with or without reasonable accommodation

  • A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States.  No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.

 

Preferred Skills:

  • Prior automation experience using Dow’s MOD5 and/or ABB 800xA control platform
  • Manufacturing and operations experience

 

Additional Notes:

  • This position can be located in Freeport, Seadrift or Houston (with expected travel to the plants a couple times per week or as needed).
