Our client, a prestigious, independent, employee – owned consultancy, has provided advisory services to the up, mid and downstream hydrocarbons and chemicals industries for over 25 years. Trusted to provide credible and impartial expertise addressing the technical, commercial, financial, legal and regulatory issues that confront the industry worldwide, the business operates out of several global energy hubs in Asia, Europe and the Americas. The organisation works closely with banks, investors, technology and engineering services providers, legal teams, government agencies and regulators, upstream producers and integrated energy companies and specialist refiners and petrochemical manufacturers. Services include strategic analysis, and planning, LP modelling and operational commercial model development, business /asset valuations, and performance benchmarking, due diligence assessment ,asset management and dispute /litigation advisory support.
Our clients is currently seeking a major projects consultant with strong technical and commercial experience in the management of large construction projects ($500 million+) in the petroleum refining, petrochemical, natural gas, pipeline, or “topsides” oil and gas production industries. Part of a capability providing support to the legal community in the resolution and arbitration of disputes particularly associated with major engineering and construction contracts and the operation of plant worldwide, the appointee will be frequently called upon to determine cause and liability in major cases. The successful candidate will unquestionably offer an exceptional track record in engineering and project management, ideally acquired with both an operating company and a major, world scale- EPC contractor. With gravitas and excellent powers of articulation, applicants must be capable of acting as a credible expert witness on issues such as project contract and cost dispute as well as topics such as asset valuations, business interruption, due care and due diligence and damage calculations. It is essential that candidates can demonstrate extended personal exposure to the successful management and delivery of world scale EPC projects within their broader experience and can offer expert insight into the causes of cost and timetable overruns and shortcomings in technical performance against specification and other contracted obligations.
- Strong background in all aspects of major construction projects.
- Project management experience with a large EPC company and/or owner.
- Demonstrated hands-on experience in EPC contract management.
- Experience with analysing capital cost and schedule overruns on major projects.
- Testifying witness in construction disputes on major projects.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or Petroleum Engineering.
- Very substantial industry experience which should ideally include time with an EPC major contractor
- MBA and(ideally)Chartered Engineer
- Ability to travel internationally.
