Hydrocarbons Operations

Our client, owned by an energy major, operates the largest onshore gas storage facility in the UK, a top tier COMAH regulated operation.

The job holder will lead the HSE management function ensuring that the group operates in a safe and legally compliant manner across the whole facility overseeing the implementation and development of robust HSE management systems and that company employees embrace a culture of health, safety and environmental awareness and best practice. Specific duties will include managing COMAH regulation and improvement including safety report updates, Hazop / Hazid co-ordination, LOPA assessments, all safety audits , disseminating  a proactive culture of effective HSE awareness, leading  HSE requirement analysis for new investment/operations, driving  sustainability and green initiatives across the group, liaison with agencies and authorities on IPPC operational requirements and permit support, etc. Candidates should have a proven track record in developing, implementing and maintaining best HSE practice on top tier COMAH hydrocarbon plant or similar.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Practical safety skills relating to oil and gas, refinery or petrochemical facilities and have an understanding of current and proposed UK and European legislation and regulations.
  • Knowledge of development and maintenance of COMAH safety reports and/or offshore safety cases is a prerequisite.
  • Professional qualification in process, operations, Chemical Engineering Degree(or equivalent or similar) level
  • Chartered membership of an approved professional institution, preferably within the safety sector
  • Good understanding of the engineering involved in oil production, gas storage or other hydrocarbon or petrochemical operations
  • Experience in the integration of occupational, behavioural and process safety management into operations
  • Significant experience in a Senior Health and Safety management role
