Our client is part of a major materials, chemicals and technology group enjoying business representation in over 20 countries worldwide. The EHS Manager is responsibility for all Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) at one of our client’s most significant, top tier COMAH businesses that employs nearly 900 people in the South East and which produces very high value speciality and commodity materials from natural sources.  The primary objectives are to provide the business with clear strategic direction and continuously improve EHS performance whilst ensuring business compliance with its parent company’s standards in addition to the external regulatory requirements associated with the operation of high hazard operations (COMAH), ensuring all EHS programs, procedures, training, work practices and controls are effectively implemented. The appointee should offer a strong understanding of process safety and risk and ensure that all existing and proposed plan is subject to rigorous safety evaluation and scrutiny and the application of industry standard safety assessment techniques and methodologies such as HAZOPS/HAZANS/DSAER, SIL, ALARP, ATEX etc., etc. 

Candidates should be Members or Fellow of professional body with an appropriate professional qualification (e.g IOSH, CMIOSH, IChemE), offer  strong knowledge and experience of working in an engineering , chemical or pharmaceutical environment and proven experience in a leadership role within process safety/EHS. With demonstrable experience in the application of EHS management systems, the successful candidate should be able to demonstrate proven experience in the supervision /management of professional staff and a credible background in Process safety /PSM/IH and /or COMAH.
