Our client is a major player in the international insurance sector involved in the provision of cover for major high hazard sites and assets worth billions of $’s, including refineries, petrochemical, LNG and oil & gas plant, marine facilities, shipping and so on. Their City office is enjoying exceptional levels of growth supporting EMEA and is looking to recruit another experienced chemical or mechanical engineer offering significant levels of operational/production/technical support or maintenance experience of the refinery, petrochemical or hydrocarbons sectors, ideally acquired with a downstream operator.
This unusually rounded role focuses on routine operational risk assessments, but also business interruption reviews and investigations where experience of plant finance, production scheduling /LP modelling and economics would be extremely useful.
Core responsibilities include condition surveys and assessments that describe site operations and processes and evaluate plant integrity, the analysis of loss prevention/mitigation issues and opportunities, undertaking software-based desk top risk reviews and preparing reports for underwriters. Business interruption assessments would extend to the analysis of loss consequent on major incidents such as explosions, natural catastrophe and plant failure and projecting and quantifying operational interruptions to supplier and customer agreements and material movements around major multi-unit sites.
About 80 days travel annually can be expected throughout EMEA. Foreign language skills, particularly in Arabic and French, would be very welcome.
Our client is looking for substantial experience of COMAH regulated plant operations, production or maintenance and is not seeking design or technical safety engineering candidates at this stage.
