Downstream Insurance Risk

Our client is a global insurance player enjoying a truly worldwide presence and significant market share within the high hazard sectors. The business provides significant support to the onshore energy, power, utility, and chemical sector in EMEA from its London hub, which is looking to strengthen its downstream energy team. The job holder will assist underwriting and claims teams by identifying and characterising risks as well making recommendations to clients on risk mitigation. Candidates should have significant experience of large scale, multi-unit downstream COMAH plant operations such as refineries and petrochemical facilities and the business Interruption issues associated with them. The appointees will conduct site based physical condition surveys, produce desk top risk assessments, assess operational and maintenance practice, review and comment on broker technical submissions and produce coherent reports for internal and external parties. The role will suit a senior engineer with substantial experience of refinery and petrochemical operations that includes start-ups, technical /production support, EHS management and maintenance/ plant engineering etc. Exposure to scheduling, planning and LP modelling would be an advantage. Our client is not considering candidates with a process design or projects background at this stage. International travel within EMEA of around 70 days can be expected annually.
