Oil, Refining and Chemicals Risk Engineer
Our client is a major player in the international insurance sector where it’s involved in the provision of cover for major high hazard sites and assets worth billions of $’s,including refineries, petrochemical, LNG and oil & gas plant, marine facilities, shipping and so on. The organisation’s Gulf office is enjoying exceptional levels of growth supporting EMEA from the UAE, where they are looking to recruit another highly experienced chemical or mechanical engineer offering significant levels of operational/production technical support insight and expertise that has been acquired within the hydrocarbons, refinery or petrochemical sectors ideally with a major operating company .
This is an unusually rounded role focusing on routine operational risk assessments, but also business interruption reviews and investigations where experience of plant finance, production scheduling /LP modelling and economics would be extremely useful.
Core responsibilities will include condition surveys and physical assessments that describe site operations and processes and evaluate plant condition and integrity, the analysis of loss prevention/mitigation issues and opportunities and undertaking software based desk top risk reviews. Additional business interruption responsibilities would extend to an examination of loss consequence on major incidents such as explosions, natural catastrophe and plant failure and projecting and quantifying operational interruptions to supplier and customer agreements and material movements around major multi-unit sites.
About 80 days travel annually can be expected throughout EMEA. The position will be awarded on a generous, tax free, local basis with healthcare and travel provided.Foreign language skills, particularly in Arabic and French, would be welcome.
Our client is looking for substantial experience of COMAH regulated plant operations and production and is not seeking design engineering candidates at this stage.
