Process Systems Enterprise (PSE) are looking for a Consultant Engineer to join our Global Consulting team. We provide Advanced Process Modelling software and services based on our gPROMS software platform. Our clients include most of the major companies in the chemicals, oil, pharma and other process industries around the world.

PSE is expanding rapidly and currently employs approximately 150 staff engaged in product development, software development, client consulting services, sales and marketing.

Position Overview

The projects in the Global Consulting group typically involve modelling of new or existing processes for materials processing industries. These projects include development and application of multipurpose process model libraries and systems modeling frameworks to troubleshoot/optimize the design/operation of these processes. The successful candidate is expected to work closely with a team led by a lead consultant to execute and deliver these projects.

Your duties and responsibilities will include:

  • Design, development and testing of mathematical models
    • Define model requirements
    • Develop equations which govern a given phenomenon and implement them in an equation oriented simulation environment
    • Perform checks to ensure model correctness
    • Validate the model stand alone and in a systems context
  • Applying existing gPROMS model libraries to industrial problems presented by our clients
  • Preparing model formulation documentation and project reports
  • Preparing training and demonstration materials
  • Active participation in client/team meetings and working activities
  • Contributing to group activities and knowledgebase, including delivery of technical seminars

Required education and skills/experience:

  • Master’s in Chemical Engineering with experience in first-principles process modeling
  • A fundamental understanding of chemical engineering science, mathematical optimization, and model validation
  • Experience with gPROMS®, SPEEDUP®, ACM®, Dymola® or another equation-oriented modelling tool is an advantage
  • Programming (FORTRAN, C, C++) and CFD/DEM experience is helpful, but not necessary
  • Experience with applying mathematical models to a client site or operation is helpful, but not necessary
  • Excellent oral and written English language skills
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member
  • Ability to prioritize scheduled tasks and react to unexpected problems
