University of Bath Prize Fellowships
Our Prize Fellowships offer early-stage researchers the opportunity to join a cohort of like-minded rising research stars. These two-year research fellowships in our priority research areas are part of a scheme intended to fast-track fellows to a permanent appointment at Bath.
We are seeking future academic leaders across a range of disciplines who will benefit from our well-resourced and supportive research environment.
As a member of this elite group, you will be on track to become a key member of our research community with a permanent academic position. Our supportive community successfully nurtures ambitious early stage researchers and provides for the requirements of their developing research programme. Read more about our Prize Fellowships.
In the Faculty of Engineering & Design we will appoint Fellows to further strengthen and develop areas of existing research excellence.
We welcome applications in the following Chemical Engineering research areas:
- Advanced Bio-separations
The Prize Fellow in Advanced Bio-separations will research separation processes to deliver flexible product streams from Industrial Biotechnology applications. A focus will be downstream purification and concentration of products from the bio-refining of waste and biomass as alternatives to fossil-fuel feedstocks for the low-carbon production of materials, chemicals and fuels.
- Refining of Biological Feedstocks
The Prize Fellow in Refining of Biological Feedstocks will research improved upstream systems and processes to convert biological feedstocks to multiple, low carbon products including materials, chemicals and fuels. A focus will be novel process integration to achieve large-scale, economic bio-refining of flexible, renewable feedstocks including waste and biomass.
As part of your application you must provide:
- a completed application form
- an outline of your research plans over the next 3-5 years, showing how you will complement and enhance research within the research area (no more than 2 sides of A4, minimum font size 11)
- a CV
The application process will ask you to select which area of research you wish to be apply for. If you are applying for more than one research area then you will need to specify this when prompted.
Further details of each area and contact names for enquiries can be found on the Engineering & Design Prize Fellowships page.
