About Beaumont


With a population of more than 118,000, Beaumont ,Texas, is located in the Gulf Coast region of the United States, on the Neches River, about 85 miles east of Houston, the nation's fourth largest city. Beaumont has been a home to the oil industry from the days of the Spindletop oil boom until today, and along with nearby Port Arthur and Orange, is part of the Golden Triangle industrial area on the Texas Gulf Coast. Built along the banks of the Neches River in 1903, the original ExxonMobil Beaumont refining facilities have grown into an integrated petrochemical complex on 2,700 acres and have contributed to the economic and social landscape of southeast Texas. Not only does Beaumont produce Mobil 1, the world’s leading synthetic motor oil, it is the only manufacturer of Mobil Aviation Greases. Other products include fuels and chemical compounds used in a diverse range of products, including plastics, Nylon, shrink wrap and more.

 

What role you will play in our team

 

The Finishing Improve Engineer is dedicated to providing support to the Polyethylene Plant in Beaumont (Texas, US). The role comprises interfacing with Manufacturing, Business, Quality and Process Monitoring teams as well as collaborating with PE process peers in the areas of Process Improve, Process Capacity Optimization, Product Development and Customer Application Development.

What you will do

 

  • Provide PE finishing technology expertise and support to the Beaumont Polyethylene Plant to ensure world class performance in process safety, plant reliability and profitability

  • Identify and develop process efficiency and capacity optimization opportunities

  • Lead development and deployment of Technology programs and trials; develop and execute experimental operating guidelines for plant trials

  • Serve as primary contact for Management of Change requests with a Process Technology component and document Technology Basis Memoranda for Technology changes

  • Support commissioning and start-up of newly implemented technologies

  • Lead troubleshooting and resolution of most complex GPPE Finishing problems

  • Proactively identify and help resolve emerging issues before they escalate

  • Participate in equipment and engineering change reviews and risk assessments

  • Support earnings improve programs including plant performance gap analysis and gap closure vs best available technologies

  • Participate in Global Technology Network meetings as site Technology representative and lead process sub-networks with other manufacturing sites across the globe

  • Mentor engineers within various Technical and Technology departments

Skills and Qualifications

 

 

  • BSc Degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering with industrial experience

  • Demonstrated work experience in a manufacturing environment, including plant optimization, process control and process problem troubleshooting

  • Strong analytical, communication and interpersonal skills are required. Collaboration, initiative, ethics and safety awareness are key personal values.

  • Interest in living in the Beaumont area for a longer term

  • Ability to travel 10% if required

Preferred Qualifications/ Experience

 

  • Preferred experience in polyolefin extrusion and finishing manufacturing
