Job Description

OVERVIEW OF THE ROLE

 

The candidate will join the Process Computer Control organization of the SARPOM-Trecate Refinery  with the role of Application Engineer. He/she will work in a team of Application Engineers who implement and maintain control schemes and advanced control applications to allow the site process units to run safely and at optimum operating conditions. Application Engineers provide technical support to Operations on process control and optimization issues. Networking is a key value in this area so the candidate will also work together with experienced Applications Engineers located in central organizations and colleagues at other ExxonMobil sites in other countries. A positive attitude towards team work and diversity is a requirement due to international environment in which he/she will work. Application engineers attend advanced training courses by third parties and ExxonMobil abroad to develop/maintain the high level of expertise required by their role in the organization. Previous experience in the oil and gas industry is not necessary but could be helpful.

MAIN JOB ACTIVITIES

 

  • Working with a variety of process control technologies to implement and support unit base process control schemes on DCSs (Digital Control Systems), advances control applications to optimize unit operations, software tools developed by third parties and/or ExxonMobil central organizations to assist console personnel in their daily tasks. This may require tests on process units to be led by him/her.
  • Issuing documentation on applications/tools to be used by console personnel and train them on existing/implemented ones to ensure understanding of their objectives/scope and meet their training program.
  • Monitoring the performance of existing application and interact with other Refinery Organization to identify opportunities for improvements and modifications to meet new operating conditions.
  • Developing and supporting advanced operator tools aiming to safe and effective operation of process units.
  • Supporting site organizations during process unit shut-downs and start-ups and/or project design and implementation steps when process control is inside its scope.

REQUIREMENTS OF CANDIDATE

 

  • Master degree in Chemical Engineering, Automation Engineering or equivalent subject with excellent university curriculum.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in applying advanced computer control applications to real process equipment.
  • Knowledge of Honeywell Distribute Control Systems and/or Aspen Tech Multivariable Control Applications is a plus.
  • Work or study experience abroad are an asset.
  • Computing skills. Being experienced and competent users of Microsoft Office suite including Excel and Word.
  • Fluent in Italian and English.
