Role Profile

The Plant Engineering Manager will be responsible for maintaining and enhancing safe, reliable manufacturing operations through effective management and oversight of site reliability programs and key plant improvement projects by providing leadership to technical resources at the Indian Orchard Site (IO). From design to start-up, they will be responsible for managing engineering projects and services in an assigned area. The Plant Engineering Manager will approve designs for engineering phases of projects that relate to processing. They will also supervise engineers and drafting specialists as needed to complete these projects.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct leadership to site’s Mechanical, Electrical and DCS Engineers
• Drive the Zero Incident Mindset culture among the team members 
• Mentor and develop team members, focusing on technical knowledge and development opportunities. Deliver constructive and timely performance feedback and reinforcement (results and behaviors)
• Facilitate engineering prioritization meetings between maintenance, operations, and other functional areas to understand department priorities and adequately allocate resources. Ensure group resources are deployed on the highest value plant projects.
• Focus on sustaining and implementing improvements to site’s Mechanical and Electrical reliability (predictive) programs
• In coordination with the IO Project Engineering Manager, maintain and drive the site capital plan via execution of small capital projects and providing engineering and technical support for large capital projects
• Provide engineering and technical support to plant operations and maintenance as well as ensure appropriate engineering support is in place for key manufacturing issues and project implementation 
• Ensure team’s compliance of site MOC program, engineering standards, SIS testing, and cyber security program
• Deliver clear, effective, and timely communication to stakeholders
• Ability to prioritize work and manage conflicting site priorities
• Maintain awareness of Eastman and contract resources to supplement IO resources and utilize when appropriate
• Lead problem solving teams to identify alternatives, design scope and implement improvements 
• Manage all phases of key plant support projects and maximize value by executing the projects within budget, on schedule and required operability / objectives 
• Maintain effective partnerships with corporate support organizations, Operations, Technology, Manufacturing Support, and key business contacts

Qualifications

• BS in Engineering with a minimum of 5 years of industry or project management experience
• Previous Leadership experience preferred but not required
• Prior experience in Process Safety Management (PSM) environment strongly preferred
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Demonstrated strong leadership ability.  Must be skilled at influencing without authority
• High degree of initiative and ability to plan, prioritize, and work with minimal guidance
• Ability to manage multiple projects
• SAP proficiency preferred
