AECOM Design Consulting Services Division is hiring a Junior Chemical Engineer to join the New Orleans office for immediate employment. This position will be part of the Air Quality Group within Louisiana Operations. The group, which is responsible for a wide range of air-related work, consists approximately of 15 team members ranging in experience from 2 to over 20 years of experience with plans to grow in numbers and talent.

Responsibilities of this position will include executing and assisting with managing projects involving air quality-related environmental compliance services including air permitting, emissions calculations, performing studies and analyses, regulatory research, and compiling and writing reports and other documents.

The daily responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Emissions calculations

  • Regulatory compliance

  • Title V-PSD permitting

  • Air quality modeling

  • Field monitoring, record keeping and reporting

  • Conduct/direct annual emissions inventories

  • Determine sources and methods of controlling pollutants in air utilizing knowledge of chemistry, meteorology, engineering principles and applied technologies

  • Inspect industrial facilities and programs to evaluate operational effectiveness and verify compliance with environmental regulations

  • Apply principles of engineering to solve environmental problems

  • Apply knowledge of applicable health and safety requirements and environmental concerns

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or related discipline

  • Must have strong organizational and time management skills

  • Excellent communications skills including report writing, oral presentations, and direct verbal communication

  • Must have strong work ethic and professional demeanor

  • Independent thinker with a strategic mindset while being detail oriented and able to work as part of a team

  • Candidate must be proactive on projects and demonstrate initiative

  • Proficient use of PC- based applications (MS Word and Excel) and good typing skills

  • Must have a valid driver’s license

  • Knowledge with the environmental, air quality and provincial government regulatory requirements related to air emissions and environmental permitting

Preferred Qualifications

  • Engineer-in-training license
