This is the role

As Global Projects Risk Management (GPRM) you are responsible for the implementation and integration of risk management at all phases throughout capital projects. This includes providing independent project risk management support to our Global Project team which undertake a large portfolio of capital investment projects. Additionally, risk support is provided to Global Turnarounds executed by our Global Engineering & Turnarounds group.

In this role you will act as the Project Risk Lead for both capital investment projects and Global Turnarounds above $25mm in Europe, Asia and International (EAI). The role will provide support to the preparation and design of project risk plans, lead the development of projects risk registers, undertake complex qualitative and quantitative analysis, provide facilitation, guidance and training to junior project risk analysts and project teams.

Using your expertise as a seasoned Risk Manager you will monitor projects so that they adhere with the project risk management procedures and provide advice to project manager and sponsors by carrying out risk assessments. The role takes leadership accountability for consistently improving Project and Turnaround Risk Management capability in the EAI to help achieve execution cost, schedule, reliability and safety objectives. The incumbent will be recognized throughout the company as a subject matter expert in project risk management.

Responsibilities:

• Develop Risk Management Execution Plans on projects/turnarounds that are right-sized to project/turnaround needs and meet existing corporate risk expectations/requirements.
• Lead the identification and assessment of risks associated with capital projects & turnarounds.
• Develop and implement risk mitigation plans and recommend risk management strategies to project/turnaround managers and stakeholders.
• Carry out quantitative modelling to give the best advice to project/turnaround managers and directors on proposed risk-based contingencies.
• Support the development and maintenance of risk management procedures and tools. 
• Provide regular risk management updates to senior management and project/turnaround stakeholders.
• Prepare risk management reports, including KPIs and trends to project/turnaround teams and senior management.
• Mentor junior risk management staff and project/turnaround team resources.
• Confidently explain the value and benefits of risk management to stakeholders.
• Identify trends and interdependencies through reviewing the causes and consequences of different risks throughout projects/turnarounds and facilitate conversations to ensure alignment and consistency in the management of risks. 
• Keep relevant knowledge up-to-date by attending seminars, training sessions, and workshops, as necessary to develop and ensure success of project risk management principles.

This is who you are

• Understanding and application of project management and project controls processes such as scheduling and planning, estimating, change control etc.
• Experienced and enjoys risk management facilitation to stakeholders at all levels within the project.
• Able to build risk models in a number of applications, which accurately represent the complexities of cost and schedule risk.
• Able to coach and challenge management and non-specialists on the results of risk management.

This is what you bring

• Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering, Project discipline or other related field required;
• A minimum of 8 years of experience in a professional environment including significant exposure in a project controls management discipline preferably Project Risk Management;
• Membership of the Institute of Risk Management or similar certifications from the project management profession e.g. PMI-RMP, PMP, IPMA are desirable;
• English required; any other languages (particularly Dutch, German, Italian, French or Spanish) a plus.
