As a member of the Engineering team you will monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize operating units to drive process and product improvements while maintaining a strong safety and environmental compliance focus. You will ensure the adequate configuration of our control systems, including interface with instrumentation, graphics, and alarm management. Through continued technical expertise as the system administrator, this position also provides daily support to engineering, design, maintenance and production groups. The Process Control Systems Engineer will also have the responsibility to see that implemented projects use sound engineering practices, plant standards, specifications and the plant process control systems philosophy. During a typical day you will apply technical knowledge to detect causes of deviations in quality, capacity, yield, and energy consumption or provide technical training to less experienced engineers or operators.
DCS/SIS Process Historian
Day to Day responsibilities for maintaining existing control systems to include rotational 24x7 on call support
Maintain the plant DCS electronic documentation
Build and update all graphics, programs, or control schematics and assist in training operators.
Manage preventative maintenance programs for DCS/SIS systems
Manage the maintenance agreements with the various control systems vendors. This includes the DCS and SIS vendors
Configure changes to the DCS/SIS to support improvement efforts
Perform backups of control configuration files
Assist System Vendor on System upgrades/maintenance tasks
Advanced Process Control (Regulatory and DMC)
Provides day to day support of both regulatory and APC applications
Perform daily checks of existing APC application performance
Train operators on the use of process control applications
Troubleshoot basic and regulatory control application problems
Control Loop Utilization and Performance
Monitor control loop performance using available software tools
Work with Control Systems Engineers on changes to improve KPl's
Troubleshoot and Tune Loops as necessary to improve performance
Communicate opportunities for performance improvement to Technical/Operations Management
Alarm Management
Monitor alarm performance using the available reporting software
Work with unit alarm champions on reducing alarms
Participate in alarm rationalizations as needed
Communicate alarm KPl's to site management
