Plastics: With new technology trends, our plastic additives can be experienced in many everyday items including vinyl, blow-molding bottles, film, rigid containers, PVC plastics, siding, decks and rails, foam pipes and profile formulations, window frames and high-efficiency lubricants.

Dow has an opportunity for a Production Director at its Oxide facility (including Ethylene Oxide / Methyl Glycol Ethers / Higher Glycols plants) within St. Charles Operations (SCO) in Hahnville, LA.  Ethylene Oxide is a key building block within the Dow Industrial Solutions business that supports several derivative users on and off site.  As the largest production capacity facility in the fleet, SCO Oxide is a key targeted growth facility in an actively supported growth Dow Industrial Solution business.

 

About you

As the Production Director you have overall responsibility and accountability for plant assets, personnel and achievement of plant related business goals. You will provide technical and administrative leadership to an empowered, work process driven, plant organization ensuring safe, reliable and efficient operations of the manufacturing facility to deliver results.  You lead people leaders and professional individual contributors and are accountable for the performance and results of a large team or multiple related teams.  You will develop plans of execution, including business, production and/or organizational priorities to ensure alignment with long-term strategy. As a leader, you foster a work environment with a high level of integrity and strong customer and safety focus that embraces inclusion and diversity, innovation and sustainability, continuous improvement and empowerment.

 

Also, you can complete each of the following tasks:

  • Serve as the leader of a production plant accountable for plant results and for the implementation of and adherence to all relevant work processes in the areas of: environmental, health and safety; asset capability and asset utilization; and production cost and product quality.
  • Support employee growth and development through routine coaching and feedback, and development discussions.
  • Represent the plant in business strategy development and goal setting processes. Communicates business and plant strategies and goals to plant employees.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, local and company environmental, health and safety regulations impacting plant operations.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements related to production of regulated chemicals.
  • Support Dow’s license to operate by developing and maintaining strong relationships and open communications with community, state/provincial and federal political and regulatory leaders.
  • Develop and maintains staffing plan to support achievement of business results.
  • Supports site leadership and other internal and external initiatives.
  • Direct the implementation and continuous improvement of all safety requirements, programs, standards, and practices.
  • Serve as a Site Emergency Manager/On-call required.

 

Required qualifications
  • A minimum of a bachelor's degree or relevant military experience at or above a U.S. E6 ranking OR Canadian Petty Officer 2nd Class (PO2/Sgt) ranking.
  • A minimum of 10 years manufacturing or relevant experience is required.
  • Previous people leadership experience is required.

  • A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States.  No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process. 

 

Your preferred qualifications include
  • A degree in engineering, science or a technical discipline is preferred.

 

Your skills, knowledge, and abilities include
  • Being proficient in Microsoft applications, such as Word and Excel.
  • Demonstrating competencies in the areas of: leadership, initiative, teamwork, and interpersonal effectiveness.
  • Ensuring a safe work environment by working safely and, complying with environmental, health and safety standards.
  • Strong work ethic and being able to remain productive in an empowered team environment.
