Where the Chemistry Happens 

We are seeking a professional like you to develop in-depth technical knowledge for areas of responsibility and work collocated with Operations team. In this role, you will manage capital projects, reliability improvements, management of PSM activities, safety reviews, and process safety information. You will assist the Daily Operations Team (DOT) in technical troubleshooting and participate in weekend on-call rotation. 

You will participate in the coordination of production, maintenance, technology improvements, continuous improvement KPI tracking, health and safety, ecology, quality assurance, and work closely with DOT members in a high-performance team environment. You will also work internationally in support of global chelates business, as required. 

 

 

As a Process Engineer, you create chemistry by… 

 

  • Leading process optimization and technology innovation by identifying, evaluating, developing, prioritizing, and implementing improvement ideas for debottlenecking and troubleshooting of processes.  
  • Improving performance, reliability, positively impacting operational costs, and addressing business needs using continuous improvement methodologies (With a specific focus on granulation unit). 
  • Ensuring plant changes or modifications are captured and documented as a part of PSM “Management of Change”. 
  • Coordinating the overall capital plan with the Technology team and serving as a manufacturing representative on capital projects, executing, commissioning and startup of those projects. 
  • Working with the Operations Team in the development of plant trials, experiments, and data collection and promoting interaction between NAFTA chelate production and global technology by serving on multi-site teams to solve chelate chemistry-wide problems and implement solutions. 
  • Leading the PHA process, owning and managing critical process safety systems and documentation for units of expertise and providing technical support for risk assessments on Management of Change to ensure changes do not jeopardize plant safety. 
  • Developing in-depth technical knowledge of chelate chemistry and one or more operating units to assist with process improvement, troubleshooting activities and turnaround planning (Exchange with North American chelate chemistry, global technology exchange, etc.) 

 

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

 

 

 

Your formula for success… 

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemical Engineering 
  • Experience within a chemical or manufacturing environment 
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of Process Safety Management 
  • Practical experience in process improvement, troubleshooting activities and turnaround planning 
  • Good communication skills and ability to work in a matrix organization
