The Role
Our client is currently seeking to recruit a Metals and Mining Risk Control Engineer based in London to join its rapidly expanding Natural Resources property and Casualty team.
The role will involve delivering risk engineering services to multi-national organisations primarily in metals, mining and conventional power generation supplemented with survey work in other sectors. Experience of coal, minerals or metals mining operations and production is sought in addition to excellent knowledge of gas / steam turbine, generator, boiler and transformer operations, asset integrity activities (maintenance inspection), and process safety. Core responsibilities include condition surveys and assessments that describe site operations and processes, the evaluation of plant integrity and reliability, the analysis of loss prevention/mitigation issues and opportunities, undertaking software-based risk reviews and preparing reports for underwriters.
Requirements
· Extensive experience working within the Mining, Power, Metals, or related industries. This experience can be in a variety of roles including operations, technical, engineering, maintenance or HSE.
· Degree (or equivalent) Electrical, Civil or Mechanical Engineering. Additional qualifications in risk management or relevant accreditations would be considered favourably.
· Comfortable travelling extensively (e.g., approx. 80 days per year) on an international basis.
· Self-starter, with good interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively relate to individuals at all levels – from site technicians up to company CEOs.
· Proven ability to write detailed reports of a varied technical nature.
· Member of engineering associations (i.e., IET, IMechE, ICE etc.) is preferable.
· Experience of working with international engineering standards and codes such IEEE, ASME, NFPA, ANSI, API.
· Working knowledge of fire protection and detection systems would be considered favourably.
