The Role

Position Purpose

What’s the role –

The Expansion Process Engineer provides process support for the development of front end engineering, detailed design engineering and commissioning and start up support to large projects across the different project phases.  Work involves aspects like flow sheet simulation, equipment calculation, safeguarding studies, generations of process flow schemes, preparation of equipment process and basic data sheets, integration aspects into existing projects, support of operational readiness deliverables such as operating procedures and training materials, quality assurance of constructions, etc.

Accountabilities:

  • The position will focus on detailed design of multiple projects within the Cathedral Portfolio and integration aspects with assets on the existing facility.
  • Supports technology specifications and provides input to new technology evaluations.
  • Coordinate technical reviews and development activities with different project teams, including contractors.
  • Provides technical assurance of commissioning and startup activities. 
  • Provides technical assurance so that operating units are designed and implemented in accordance with Design and Integrity Operating Windows and comply with any safeguarding or Process Safety requirements and expectations for the site (via full integration into site ESP and SIS work processes).
  • Provides support for technical assurance and approval for changes following the Management of Change (MOC) process.
  • Supports HAZOP and resolution of action items resulting from the studies.
  • Supports the OR & CSU Startup team in the post-commissioning phase, to assure unit meets the performance criteria as designed.
  • Provides training to operations on technical considerations for the process unit.
  • Timely execution of individual milestones in accordance and to support the project schedule.
  • Supports implementation of best practices while adhering to all Shell, HSE, regulatory, quality, and other applicable standards.

Dimensions:

  • The Expansion Process Engineer will be an integral part of the Convent Expansion team, as well as the Cathedral Team.   The teams are multi-discipline teams comprised of P&T employees, Convent employees and contractors working collaboratively on a multi-billion dollar investment at the Convent Site.

Special Challenges:

  • Demonstrates an “act like an owner” mindset to assure key project and site decisions are made with a focus on overall Shell value. 
  • Managing and making measurable progress on numerous activities and project deliverables under strict time constraints.  
  • Managing fluctuating and competing priorities of different needs (design development, field execution, operational readiness, work process requirements, etc.).

Skills & Requirements

What we need from you –

  • Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis.
  • BS/MS in Chemical Engineering with 7+ years of industry experience.
  • Experience with project development preferred
  • Experience in a manufacturing or technical support environment including work processes. 
  • Knowledge of HEMP process (PHA, LOPA, etc.
  • Knowledge of industry standards.
  • Demonstrated analytical and decision-making skills.
  • Good communication skills (Oral/Written).
  • Good delegation and prioritization skills (especially during construction and CSU phases)
