Rotterdam Area
The head office of the Benelux organisation is situated in Breda. The production plants are located in the Rotterdam port area.
We are offering a position in our Project Development team leading a wide range of projects from initial concept development through to completion of FEED. Depending upon the nature of the project, you will be assigned one or more project leadership roles as Project Manager, Facilities Planning Lead, Lead Designer, or FEED Leader, responsible for the successful and competitive technical definition of facilities related to Fuels, Lubes, Chemical, or Low Carbon business opportunities. Although you will be based at our Rotterdam facility in the Netherlands, you will play a key role in our European Brownfield Project Organization, in a team distributed across four locations, which delivers capital projects in the $1m-$500m TEC range to the ExxonMobil facilities located across Europe and the Middle East. Our portfolio of projects plays an important role in enabling reliable safety and environmental performance of our facilities, as well as supporting key business development opportunities including those associated with transition to a low carbon future as part of the global energy transition.
In the early stages of project definition you will be responsible for developing options and selecting competitive and technically sound solutions to a wide range of challenges, issues, and opportunities. This involves participation in business case development, defining project objectives and strategies, formulating and evaluating technical options for lead case selection, concept development, early project delivery planning, and gaining significant stakeholder engagement and alignment. On completion of FEED you will ensure that the project successfully transitions to the Execution team responsible for leading the EPC phase.
From the moment a Business Opportunity is approved, you are responsible for developing an industry-leading competitive project. You engage, lead and coordinate an integrated project team, which will define objectives and screen safe, reliable and cost effective project alternatives, identifying a Lead Case that maximizes business value for the investment.
Following stakeholder alignment on the Lead Case, your team applies value engineering principles and external benchmarking insights to further optimize both the concept and the delivery strategy. Ultimately you will deliver a firm basis that supports delivery plans and cost & schedule estimates. You will develop and lead the FEL strategy and maintaining oversight on performance, schedule and quality until FEL completion.
Operating in any of these project leadership roles, you must be able to build a cohesive team from a diverse group of contributors and inspire and motivate them to deliver exceptional results. You will need to be able to maintain a broad overview and line-of-sight of critical issues and paths, as well as bring your focus to the detail level. You anticipate and proactively overcome barriers to success, keep a close eye on delivering on commitments, and identify critical issues and address them in a timely manner. By collaborating effectively across organisations and using your communication skills you will ensure that all stakeholders and team members stay appropriately informed and aligned on key project decisions.
As a role model in our Project Development function you will be expected and encouraged to mentor and coach less-experienced engineers, and to drive portfolio performance improvement through proactive identification of learning opportunities for the team.
