Overview

We are seeking an Advanced Process Control Engineer to join our Global Manufacturing Excellence Organization within our Manufacturing Technical Support Division team.

The manufacturing technical support team is a multi-disciplinary organization with interface to technical, and in some cases business, support requirements for our Global Manufacturing Admin Area. Its function caters mainly to the technical needs of GM Operating facilities.

Your primary role will be to handle advanced process control engineering aspects. This will include providing technical support and expertise for advanced process control solutions such as Process Modelling, Real Time Optimization etc. for multiple operating facilities from Global Manufacturing Admin Area.  You will also be responsible for providing technical guidance on high priority advanced process control related engineering and management issues.

Key Responsibilities

As the successful candidate you will be required to perform the following:

Provide technical guidance, support, training, and expertise in conducting performance testing and performance evaluation for Real-Time Optimization (RTO), Process Modeling Simulations (PMS). 

Conceive and justify, design, and develop advanced process control strategies.  

Lead design review, model review, and limit review meetings for RTO, and PMS. 

Lead the development of new control strategies and validating the feasibility to improve productivity for the company.

Develop process simulation models using company tools and resources.

Analyze process dynamics through the fundamentals of chemical process and reaction engineering, and thermodynamics.
Analyze process simulation models and how processes affect the overall production and final product and find ways to improve and develop these systems to be more effective.

Assess plant operation and recommend actions for improvements and system optimization. 

Help site RTO, and PSM Engineers establish and maintain applications’ key performance indices (KPIs) by ensuring maximum controllers’ availability, utilization, and model upgrade as necessary. 

Monitoring maintenance of Process Control Code and executing application program loads. 

Ensure manufacturing knowledge is captured and continuous improvement is delivered by benchmarking and improving practices across operating facilities.

Provide subject matter expertise to operating facilities Operations, Maintenance, and Engineering teams by consulting, provide awareness sessions, and participating and leading technical exchanges and conferences.

Maintain and execute installation, configuration, and upgrade procedures. 

Lead/provide support to plant outages, shutdowns, and chronicle problems. 

Provide support related to design Concept, engineering/Specification, integration, installation, and maintenance.

Minimum Requirements

You must hold a Bachelor degree in Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or Computer Science or Applied Science or equivalent.

You should have a minimum of 12 years’ experience in refining /oil and gas plants /petrochemical industries, with a good track record on process simulation modeling, real-time optimization.

You should have excellent knowledge of advanced process solutions such as Process Modeling, and Real-Time Optimizers solutions.

You should have a good understanding of refinery and NGL facilities, Feedstock/products movements, refinery margins, giveaways, and process yields.

You should have Familiarity with international standards and specifications for process modeling and multivariable controls.

You should have Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills in the field of advanced process control.

You should have working knowledge of oil/gas-related plant processes.
