Basic Function
As a member of the Engineering team you will monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize operating units to drive process and product improvements while maintaining a strong safety and environmental compliance focus. You will ensure the adequate configuration of our control systems, including interface with instrumentation, graphics, and alarm management. During a typical day you will apply technical knowledge to detect causes of deviations in quality, capacity, yield, and energy consumption or provide technical training to less experienced engineers or operators.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Develop systems to improve and sustain value in the areas of health, safety, environment, production rates, reliability, cost and quality.
- Maintain strong safety and environmental compliance focus.
- Develop recommendations to improve unit performance.
- Monitor, troubleshoot and optimize operating units.
- Provide process design support for capital projects.
- Contribute in a team environment and establish work relationships with onsite and offsite functional groups to achieve results.
- Balance day-to-day operational priorities with long term strategic objectives to ensure alignment with company goals.
- Coach less experienced engineers, providing required technical training.
- Configure, troubleshoot and maintain the plant control system.
- Ensure the alarm management system’s integrity and efficacy per the LyondellBasell standards and in support of EDO Operations.
- Partner with other engineering disciplines to troubleshoot plant operations, including instrumentation faults and related issues.
Min. Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Electrical Engineering
- Minimum 4 years prior experience working as a chemical engineer with relevant experience in the refining, petrochemical, or chemical process industries
- Experience with Emerson’s Delta V system
