Basic Function

As a member of the Engineering team you will monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize operating units to drive process and product improvements while maintaining a strong safety and environmental compliance focus. You will ensure the adequate configuration of our control systems, including interface with instrumentation, graphics, and alarm management. During a typical day you will apply technical knowledge to detect causes of deviations in quality, capacity, yield, and energy consumption or provide technical training to less experienced engineers or operators.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Develop systems to improve and sustain value in the areas of health, safety, environment, production rates, reliability, cost and quality.
  • Maintain strong safety and environmental compliance focus.
  • Develop recommendations to improve unit performance.
  • Monitor, troubleshoot and optimize operating units.
  • Provide process design support for capital projects.
  • Contribute in a team environment and establish work relationships with onsite and offsite functional groups to achieve results.
  • Balance day-to-day operational priorities with long term strategic objectives to ensure alignment with company goals.
  • Coach less experienced engineers, providing required technical training.
  • Configure, troubleshoot and maintain the plant control system.
  • Ensure the alarm management system’s integrity and efficacy per the LyondellBasell standards and in support of EDO Operations.
  • Partner with other engineering disciplines to troubleshoot plant operations, including instrumentation faults and related issues.

Min. Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Electrical Engineering
  • Minimum 4 years prior experience working as a chemical engineer with relevant experience in the refining, petrochemical, or chemical process industries
  • Experience with Emerson’s Delta V system
