Job Description

Basic Function

As a member of the Capital Projects Team, the Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) Engineer will conduct E&I analysis and design for capital projects in order to sustain and improve profitability, while maintaining a strong commitment to safety and environmental compliance. Responsibilities also include implementing best practices, developing and optimizing processes and procedures to align and comply with LyondellBasell (LYB) global standards and regulations, as well as supporting project design and construction activities. The position interacts with other engineers, specialists, and technicians at the site, corporate technical networks, peers at other locations, and vendors/suppliers as needed to resolve problems, implement solution and improve the capital project process. 

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Provides technical support for projects in a systematic and purposeful way, which includes, but is not limited to safety, environmental, engineering, design, construction and material requisitions.
  • Develop Electrical and Instrumentation scope to support capital projects.   
  • Review engineering and design packages within agreed timeline.
  • Review, update, compile and implement the quality control systems and procedures to ensure quality assurance, including hold and review plans.   
  • Coach / mentor / train resources including sharing of technology enhancements.
  • Participate in governance, budgeting, cost reporting, estimating and scheduling activities as required.    
  • Supports all the plant groups (Process, Maintenance, Environmental, Safety, Production, etc. and Corporate Engineering) by providing engineering expertise and providing advanced troubleshooting.
  • Provides management with progress reports on assigned projects and tasks.
  • Participates in determining the optimal solution and scope of work for assigned projects.
  • Works with engineering, design and construction to make sure the optimal solution is engineered, designed and constructed.      
  • Develops, updates and provide inputs in specifications, philosophies and standards and communicate these to outside engineering and construction.
  • Participate in addressing “Request for Information” requests.
  • Provides support to electrical and instrumentation technicians and the capital project team members as required.
  • Maintain awareness of emerging technology, assessing applicability to improve reliability and performance, or to reduce maintenance cost.

Min. Qualifications

  • B.S. degree in Electrical, Chemical or Process Engineering or related field.
  • Experience executing plant projects. 

Work Experience 

  • Minimum of 10 years relevant experience in the refining, petrochemical, chemical process, or power generation industries is preferred.
  • Instrumentation experience is preferred.
  • Experience executing plant projects. 

Languages English, additional language preferred
