Become a part of the Electronics Assembly Processing Engineering team on our journey to be a World Class Lean Digital Factory. Our team supports the day to day manufacturing operations, implements process improvements, and introduces new products into production. 

As a Process Engineer you have significant responsibilities for the technical support of our SMT (Surface Mount Technology) equipment and processes. This position will offer a challenge to a team-oriented individual who thrives in a fast paced, changing environment. Key skills required include strong problem solving ability, technical knowledge of electronics manufacturing processes and equipment, continuous improvement methodologies, and total productive maintenance. 

What will you do?

  • Develop and optimize processes and equipment for producing surface mount electronic assemblies (PCBA)
  • Specific equipment responsibilities include Laser Marker, Stencil Printer, Pick and Place, Reflow Oven, Automated Optical Inspection (AOI)
  • Complete root cause problem solving to solve daily production problems to support business KPIs (safety, quality, delivery, cost).
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams to support production, drive continuous improvement and new product introduction projects.
  • Assist with new product designs and develop processing recommendations in line with Design for Manufacturing (DFM) guidelines
  • Help maintain and improve DFM guideline document
  • Analyze production process (Value stream mapping) to understand sources of waste, and develop solutions based on lean principles to eliminate non value add operations.
  • Define standard work, description of methods and documentation
  • Create detailed work instructions for new processes and equipment.
  • Training production staff on manufacturing processes and equipment.
  • Manage small projects or sub-projects within larger projects.
  • Practice change management techniques to ensure good team collaboration, and to foster a culture of effective continuous improvement.

What will you need to succeed?

  • University degree in Engineering, or related education and experience
  • PMP and P.Eng designation or eligibility is an asset
  • 3+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering, especially in electronics production
  • Self starter with strong organization and time management skills
  • Demonstrated problem solving ability
  • Familiarity with (SMT) Surface Mount Technology is an asset
  • Experience in a variety of lean tools including but not limited to: Value Stream Mapping, Standard Work, Pull Systems & Kanban, 5S/Visual Management, SMED, TPM, Kaizen, Poke Yoke, One-piece flow, Cell/Line design
  • Experience in Project management
  • Experience in Statistical Process control, and reliability standards (IPC)
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience with NX, SAP, TeamCenter software is an asset
  • PLC programming experience is an asset
