As Group Process Safety Engineer you will provide expertise to support a full range applicable process activities for all JM sites that operate process safety applicable processes and contributes to the implementation of process safety policies and guidance in line with JM strategic PSRM goals. You will act as a change agent for process safety culture and continuous sustainable improvement whilst supporting other Group EHS activities.
Performs and facilitates process safety risk assessments including leadership of Hazard Studies (including HAZOP) and LOPA studies.
Conducts detailed analysis of leading and lagging PSPI’s in line with JM policy, recommending further corrective actions and working with sites to improve the reliability and accuracy of this key data.
Provides clear insight into trends from PSPI data, and subsequently develops and supports deployment of Group process safety interventions, i.e. LOPC prevention.
Leads on EHS projects like EHS induction and communications campaigns and others as appropriate.
Develops lessons learned alerts based on internal and external process safety incidents
Advises and works with sites to develop and monitor progress on Process Hazard Review (PHR) plans to meet Group goals, advising on changed priorities following significant incidents or major modifications.
Participates in PSRM audits, assessing site compliance with JM PSRM polices, guidance and best practices for specialist elements of JM PSRM system.
Following significant process safety incidents at sites, facilitates and leads team activities to identify root causes using JM’s RCA methodology.
Contributes to and leads the development of Group Process Safety policies, procedures and guidance documents, collaborating with other functional disciplines as necessary.
Effectively utilises a range of JM IT systems (SharePoint, Yammer, webinars, etc) to collaborate with and strengthen the JM Process Safety network, to drive best practice, maximise engagement and ensure transfer & retention of knowledge.
Takes a lead role in coaching others on process safety aspects and contributes to development and delivery of training for process safety initiatives.
Developing SME role for selected key aspects of Process Safety to act as focal point / internal consultant for sites / BUs within JM, e.g. Consequence Modelling, Bow Tie Analysis.
Takes on any other duties which are within the employee’s skills and abilities whenever reasonably instructed.
A degree level qualification in chemical / process engineering & process safety
A recognised training in Hazard Study Leadership
Proven experience in a process safety role
