Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Aluminum and/or Steel Processing Equipment Engineer that will be a key resource in the development of front end and detail engineering activities. This candidate will be responsible for, at a minimum:

• Translation of client product requirements into OEM equipment applications and sizing
• Owner and OEM collaboration in development of an optimized plant layout utilizing current technologies
• Development of system layout including material flows, equipment utilization, scrap handling, crane utilization, and operator optimization
• Development of baseline project documents including equipment costs, estimates, schedules, and facility and services written scopes
• Perform front end studies such as cost vs. benefit analysis to determine most cost-effective system application and layout
• Development of Aluminum, Steel Mill, and/or Iron Ore system design criteria and technical specifications
• Develop equipment specifications, data sheets, and narratives to support the procurement of OEM equipment
• Develop Requisitions, perform bid analysis of OEM quotes, and finalize purchasing documents
• Review OEM designs to ensure compliance with specification requirements
• Coordinate design activities with the associated disciplines and construction
• Serve as a technical lead and mentor to other engineers in a collaborative environment
• Other duties as assigned

Must be authorized to work in the country where the position is located.

Basic Job Requirements

• Accredited four (4) year degree or global equivalent in engineering field of study and twenty (20) years of work-related experience; a recognized professional certification or registration in the applicable field, if required; some locations may have additional or different qualifications to comply with local requirements
• Ability to communicate effectively with audiences that include, but are not limited to, management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and other stakeholders
• Job related technical knowledge necessary to complete the job
• Ability to learn and apply knowledge of applicable local, state/provincial, and federal/national statutes and guidelines
• Ability to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner

Preferred Qualifications

• 10-20 years aluminum or steel mill and/or extrusion experience, including operations and maintenance
• Understanding of, and experience with, aluminum and/or steel processing operations and maintenance
• Experience with:
o Manufacturing and processing equipment
o Aluminum or steel processing equipment
o Aluminum coil handling including auto and semi-auto crane specification
o Iron ore beneficiation and pellet plant
o DRI facilities
o Plant and material handling system layouts
o Hot and cold rolling mills
o Stretching
o Coil coating
o Slitting
o Heat treating
o Roll grinding
o Roll handling and packing
o Recycle aluminum material handling
