Job Description

Downstream /Refining Insurance Risk

£55 to £110 K + benefits

Our client is a major player in the global insurance sector involved in the provision of cover to large scale refinery, petrochemical, and gas facilities worldwide. The company operates out of 30 countries, addressing high hazard sectors including oil and gas, power, chemicals, marine, mass transport and so on. This is a challenging and exciting role for a chemical engineer with extensive exposure to and understanding of refinery and/or petrochemical operations, ideally, acquired on a world class site owned by a major energy/chemicals manufacturer.

Our client is specifically looking for an engineer offering substantial experience of plant technical support and business interruption insight acquired on complex sites with multiple, interdependent units. With a good understanding of refinery economics and, ideally, direct experience of LP modelling (PIMS), and unplanned shutdowns, candidates will be able to analyse and advise on the identification and mitigation of consequential loss scenarios such as those for supplier and customers relationships. In the case of incidents/losses, the appointee would advise on and quantify potential interruption liabilities and possible workarounds. Supporting clients throughout EMEA from London, the successful candidate   will undertake site inspections and condition surveys, review operating procedures, evaluate unit interdependency and BI contingency planning, undertake desktop risk assessments, and produce clear, high-quality reports for underwriters, clients and brokers. Foreign language skills would be welcome. Around 60 to 80 days of EMEA travel can be expected annually

Our client is not looking for dedicated safety or process design engineers at this time.

Interested and suitably qualified candidates should forward a Word version of their CV and a brief covering letter to Mark Stracey at Mark Stracey Recruitment.
