Process Engineer

The role: We are looking to recruit a Process Engineer to join the team at our OFD (Oil Fuel Depot) located at Gosport in Hampshire.

Reporting to the Lead Process Engineer, you will need to have some experience with tank farm design and operations, within the oil industry.  You will report to the Lead Process Engineer working on Capital Projects and Site Engineering Debottlenecking.

The work location is based at our New Head Office in Gosport, and flexible working arrangements can be arranged as per OPA policy. Candidate will be required to work from the contractor offices, periodically, as the client representative and interface.

The role will also require occasional travel to other OPA Oil Fuel Depots, therefore a full (preferably clean) driving licence is essential for the successful candidate.

Responsibilities; 

• Support the Lead Process Engineer to successfully deliver Process Engineering activities, including;
• Undertake process design / works in line with company standards and relevant UK / European legislation,
• Develop process engineering scopes of work,
• Undertake process design projects, feasibility / concept, FEED and EPC for delivery of the capital projects,
• Design Contractor management,
• Be a champion of assigned process standards,
• Advise and assist with DHSE/HAZOP/ALARP/MOC work scopes,
• Coordinate process design activities carried out by subcontractors, reviewing contractor budgets and forecasts for work
• Travel to the OPA Oil Fuel Depots and Contractor site visits,
• Apply the MOC process for the life cycle of the project,
• To work at the contractor offices as the client interface, as required.

 Knowledge and required skills; 

• Fuel tank farm design and safe working practices,
• Process design parameter development, including the design and process for piping, storage tanks, Jetty Operations and Filtration,
• Typical Process deliverables (I.e. P&ID’s, MSDS, DPTD’s, Design Basis, Logic diagrams and Cause and Effects, Risk Assessment Documentation, Process Design standards etc.)
• Ideally chartered or working towards chartership,
• Able to attend and contribute as the client in Risk assessments (HAZOP’s, LOPA’s, etc) and able to act as an “intelligent client”,
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team with excellent communication skills,
• Experienced in designs for sites under COMAH and CDM regulations, with an understanding of COMAH regulated tank farm design (e.g., Buncefield),
• Knowledge of legislation relating to COMAH, DSEAR and Pressure Relief.

The candidate: The successful candidate will hold either a Bachelor of Science, BEng or MEng in Chemical or Process Engineering (or equivalent experience) with preferable design experience within a project environment, and should either be Chartered or have enough experience to achieve Chartered status.
